Nintendo has announced that a Nintendo Direct will happen later this week. Nintendo shared the news of the upcoming showcase on Twitter.

With a new Nintendo Direct on the way, fans have expectations from the event. Rather than having a broad focus, the next presentation will focus on a single game. This showcase will not feature a wide range of games but will focus solely on the imminent release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

The show will air live on Wednesday, June 22, at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET/3 p.m. UK. The Nintendo Direct will last 20 minutes and will give fans a better look at Monolith Soft's forthcoming RPG, which is set to release on July 29.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which launched in 2017. The game takes place in a post-war world where two nations battle with one other. The player will assume control of a different protagonist for each nation, in the nations of Keves and Agnus. Nintendo initially scheduled to release the game in the fall of 2022 but pushed the release forward to July. As Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is just over a month away from its release, Nintendo appears to be giving gamers a final glimpse at the game before it goes on sale.

Most Xenoblade Chronicles 3 fans are eager to witness the Nintendo Direct. Many expect some final big news that will make the wait until July worthwhile. This year's summer of gaming news has been a little more scattered than usual due to the lack of a unified E3 event. Therefore, there hasn't been a regular June Nintendo Direct this year.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will launch on July 29, 2022, for Nintendo Switch.
