Jeff Grubb, a reputable source known for delivering plausible leaks, has shed light on the new Need for Speed game. Specifically, its release window and theme.
It has been known for a fair well that Criterion Games will head a fresh entry in the Need for Speed timeline. Although very little has been given away since its announcement, plenty of fans have since stepped up to speculate. Though, from what we’ve seen so far, not a great deal can either be confirmed or denied.
Jeff Grubb, a respected insider, on the other hand, does have the power to draw a few ears. And when Grubb made it clear that the new Need for Speed game would likely drop in November of 2022—we couldn’t help but listen.
“Need for Speed is still coming this year. That game should be coming in November, and I suppose if you’re a Need for Speed fan who has bought a next-gen console, here’s some good news… it’s next-gen only. They are shifting to next-gen only for it,” Grubb said via Giant Bomb.
“There are rumors about what the setting is that I’ve heard… It’s hard to pin down if these are for sure or not…. I’ve heard stuff like Miami, which makes me think maybe they’ll go an Underground route. That could be leaps of logic I’m making,” he concluded.
Sadly, without EA or Criterion to back Grubb’s words, we can’t really staple the November window in our diaries. We can, however, hold fire until such news is reported on by official sources. Therefore, you can pretty much take this with a slight grain of salt. The bottom line: a new Need for Speed game is coming—and it’s coming this year. Apparently.
