Most Anticipated PlayStation VR2 Games

Since the launch of the new PlayStation VR2 headset on February 22nd, splendid reviews have been coming in that speak to the headset’s game changing eye tracking, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D audio technology that adapts dynamically to your position and head movements. By Sony’s own words, PlayStation VR2 represents, “a huge generational leap forward,” and the present PS VR2 launch window line-up is proof. With a current roster of over 30 games, users are immersing themselves in virtual reality that is as real as it gets, with all their senses supercharged to create truly surreal experiences.

But the PS VR2 launch window line-up games are only the beginning of all that the headset can do. Exclusives and indie developers targeting the PS VR2 are hard at work, promising even greater control and exploration of PS VR 2’s true potential. Wondering which upcoming PS VR2 games to look forward to in 2023 and beyond? Read on for the most anticipated PlayStation VR2 games to keep on your radar the most.

5. Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue

Hello Neighbor VR: Search and Rescue - Reveal Teaser | PS VR2 & PS VR Games

You got that right, Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue is coming to PS VR2 as soon as May 24th, 2023. If its predecessor, Hello Neighbor, is anything to go by, players will once again set out to investigate their not-so-friendly neighbor. His house is even creepier, and you have no choice but to break into it and rescue your captive friend.

If you’ve played Hello Neighbor before, that familiarity with the spine-chilling adventures navigating Mr. Peterson’s creepy house is sure to up the “horror” ante a little bit. But, even if you haven’t played before, transitioning into the newest level of immersion on PS VR2 sure will inspire some quiet, frightening moments that, in my opinion, are the worst kind.

Players take on the role of either of the six playable kids, curious to see what Mr. Peterson is hiding. Each one has their own unique ability to spice it up. With the kind of viralness the Hello Neighbor indie game received post launch, you can expect a somewhat similar “most immersive” experience, with frantic pacing, tons of puzzles to solve, and more than a few jump scares, so beware.

4. Synapse

Synapse - Teaser Trailer | PS VR2 Games

Both hands will come in handy in Synapse as you dual-wield virtual firepower in one hand, and surge telekinesis in the other. This PS VR2 exclusive doesn’t come to play, pitching an action first-person shooter that’s unlike any we’ve seen before. Evidently, it can be quite a challenge even for experienced VR players, no doubt utilizing the capabilities of next gen VR.

A quick glimpse at the trailer reveals visceral, fast-paced and visually explosive action as players attempt to fight through a hostile mindscape. With PS VR2’s heightened senses, Synapse aims to explore full 1:1 motion control, with the key element being eye-tracking enhanced aiming for accurately pinpointing enemies and executing precise takedowns, as well as haptic feedback for creating a full-body telekinetic experience.

3. Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake Reveal Trailer PlayStation VR 2 - 2022

Nothing quite gets me like a remake on next gen technology, especially Resident Evil 4, because of how clunky the previous Wii remote and nunchuck controls were. These drastically derailed an otherwise splendid experience, wiping out Resident Evil’s flesh-eating monsters in one fell swoop.

When compared to games of that time, though, Resident Evil 4 still caused a huge stir in the action genre, even going on to influence today’s most successful action games like Ghost of Tsushima and God of War. With the power of the PS VR2 and Capcom’s remaking the game’s crucial gameplay to fit modern standards like the visuals and combat, I have no doubt the Resident Evil 4 Remake for the PS VR2 will do just as well as the Resident Evil 4 Remake itself.

It’s worth noting that the PS VR2 release will just be a taste of the full campaign on PS5. Rumors have it that this VR mode will come as free DLC. But regardless of how little of an experience we get access to, whether it’s in mercenary mode or shooting in close quarters, it’s still something we’ll gladly settle for in anticipation of future updates.

2. Creed: Rise to Glory  – Championship Edition

Creed: Rise to Glory - Championship Edition - Announcement Teaser Trailer | PS VR2

Critically acclaimed boxing games have been hard to find. However, Creed: Rise to Glory  – Championship Edition shows a lot of promise, warranting that you consider returning to the ring against greats like Muhammad Ali and Tyson Fury.

There’s a story, too, as you take on the role of Adonis Creed’s days at the gym, gradually rising the ranks to fight against iconic Creed and Rocky characters and making a name for yourself in the boxing sphere.

If you’re a fan of the Creed films, Creed: Rise to Glory  – Championship Edition is a must-try, especially in VR, where fighting in the ring feels surreal, even as you go through mini-games, freeplay, and additional new content. Feel free to also challenge online friends in PvP mode, which also supports cross-platform play.

1. Before Your Eyes

Before Your Eyes - Announcement Trailer | PS VR2 Games

You just can’t get enough of emotional first-person narratives, with Before Your Eyes’ award-winning tragic yet beautiful story perfectly fitting for the PS VR2. It’s the kind you have control over, and can affect the story’s outcomes thanks to PS VR2’s eye-tracking real-life blinks.

In a span of 90 minutes, you get to look through different memories presented in block color art style. Though let not the simplified visuals fool you. Before Your Eyes packs potential for lots of captivating moments, whether it’s building a career, going through a heartbreak, or adopting your first kitten—all with the blink of an eye.
