More “Surprises” in Store For Upcoming Resident Evil Village Showcase

Capcom has returned to Twitter to announce a brand new showcase for Resident Evil Village, which will air on April 15th. As part of the upcoming live stream, viewers will be able to see a further sneak peek at the Village gameplay, as well as take a gander at a fresh trailer. Plus, Capcom has also announced that the showcase will also feature “a few other surprises as well.”

Since January, PS5 owners have been able to get their hands on a standalone demo titled “Maiden”, which essentially puts you in the shoes of the maiden herself in an attempt to escape the forbidden Castle Dimitrescu. Thanks to this playable teaser, Resident Evil fans have been able to get a deeper glance at what’s to come in the upcoming chapter. Of course, it has nothing to do with the Village story — but it does serve its purpose of showing off the latest graphics and setting rather flawlessly.

Will there be another demo?

It’s likely that the showcase next week will narrow in on a second demo, although that has yet to be confirmed. However, seeing as Capcom slated a “Spring 2021 demo” in the previous announcement, it’s likely that a few of those additional “surprises” could involve the next playable preview. There’s that, as well as the usual exclusive interviews and backstage footage malarkey. But we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for what’s to come next week.

In other news, the Resident Evil multiplayer, RE:Verse, is now live and available for players to get stuck into. Being an Open Beta Test, it’s unclear as to what you can expect from the game, though it does look like a rather promising addition to the Resident Evil network. Let’s just hope that Capcom can keep it plastered with fresh content over the coming weeks before Village hits the shelves.

Resident Evil Village is set to release on May 7th on PlayStation, Xbox, Stadia, and PC. You can follow the updates for the upcoming chapter on the official Twitter handle here.
