Hearthstone: 10 Best Cards (2022)

Updated on
tips for beginners

Hearthstone currently has slightly less than 4,000 different cards. There are 1,100 Standard format cards and 3907 Wild-only cards. The difference between the two is that in the Standard format, you can only use cards from the previous two calendar years. Wild format, on the other hand, places no restrictions on players and allows them to use any card from any time period. There is also Classic, but we suspect you're far beyond that game mode by now. That's why when it comes to the best cards in the game we'll focus on the Wild format because it includes every card in the game.

But, you still have to consider your class and deck build. This can play a huge factor in what classifies as the 10 best cards in the game. But ironically, with there being 10 classes in the game, one card stands out as the best for each class. That's why in this guide, we will tell you what the best cards in Hearthstone are for each of the ten classes. So, regardless of the class, you can start with the best card, and build your deck around it.

10. Demon Hunter – Skull of Gul'dan

Starting with the most recent class, the Demon Hunter. There are many powerful cards for this class that have a good mix of magic and damage, however, the Skull of Guldan is our pick for the best. Even though it was nerfed to six-mana cost, from five for being too powerful. Still, that didn't stop it from being a part of the Meta. You can draw three cards from your deck with this card, and the Outcast effect means the cards you draw will cost three less mana than their original cost. When you don't have many moves to play or tricks up your sleeve; this one can be your saving grace.

9. Druid – Savage Roar

If you're playing as a Druid, there's one card that can easily turn the tide of battle for you. That card is Savage Roar. This card has been in Hearthstone, since the beginning, and it has remained one of the best cards for the Druid class. That's because, for just three mana costs, this card will give all characters you have on the board, a +2 attack. That means you can play as many low-cost, low-damage-dealing minions as you want, then use Savage Roar to have them each hit for a chunk, which snowballs into a lot. Overall, there are numerous ways to play this card, and it should be included in every Druid deck, regardless of format.

8. Hunter – Hydralodon

The Hunter class focuses pretty heavily on offense, that's why one of its best cards, the Hydraladon, is primarily an attacking card. However, you can also use it to play defense. When you play this colossal card, you also get two additional Hydralodon Heads, with Rush, right as it's played. Then when each Hydralodon Head dies, it will spawn two more Hydralodon heads, however without Rush. Regardless, this one card gives you six additional cards on top of it. Which you can use to attack, or hold to take hit points for defense.

7. Mage – Fireball

Regardless if you play the Mage class or not, if you've played Hearthstone long enough, you've come across the Fireball card in a match. This card is fairly valued, for four Mana it straight up deals 6 damage. However, you can use Fireball on any target on the battlefield. That includes all minions, the opponent's hero, and with that, Taunt Minions can't block it. That's why Fireball can be your get-out-of-jail-free card. It can also come in handy as a finishing blow on hereos.

6. Paladin – Mysterious Challenger

For Paladins, the Mysterious Challenger card can be extremely powerful. However, that is only the case if you're using a deck build utilizing Secret cards. Which consequently, goes hand in hand with playing the Paladin class. That's because when you play the Mysterious Challenger card, it also activates Secrets from your deck into the battlefield, with a maximum of five Secrets. That can give you a ton of tricks up your sleeve, plus a 6-6 card to use on the board.

5. Priest – Shadow Word: Devour

Shadow Word: Devour is a very basic, early game card for the Priest class. However, that's not to say it's not one of the best, cause it is. When your opponent play's a lot of low-health minions for coverage early on, you can use this card to easily wipe them out, and now put yourself on the defense. Just make sure you don't have a lot of 1 health minions on the board as well.

4. Rogue – Edwin VanCleef

Best Cards

If you need a powerful minion on the board while playing as the Rogue class, rely on no one other than Edwin VanCleef. This guy will gain +2/+2 for every card you play before it. So, if you get a good setup, you can get Edwin VanCleef up to an 8/8 stat line, pretty easily. With a deck build that revolves around this card, you can even double his stats to 16/16; that's if you get an ideal setup. Just don't forget to save three mana to play Edwin VanCleef at the end.

3. Shaman – Firemancer Flurgl

Best Cards

Murloc cards have always been a Shaman class's best friend. That is why, if you want to build a Murloc deck with the Shaman Class, you must include the Firmancer Flurgl card. There are many neutral Murloc cards, but the Firemancer Flurgl is specifically a Shaman Card that lets you deal 1 damage to all enemies after you play a Murloc card. And since Murloc cards cost little mana, you can play this card, then flood the board with Murlocs to consistently lower minions' and the hero's health.

2. Warlock – Voidlord

Best Cards

Hands down for us, the Voidlord is one of the best cards for the Warlock class. That's mainly because, it's a great card for defense, that can even double for some solid offensive damage. When you summon the Voidlord, you get 3/9 card with Taunt. This alone is hard to kill. But once it dies. you'll also summon three 1/3 Demons with Taunt. So by playing this card, you can easily buy yourself a couple of rounds to gain mana and reset.

Wild Format: Yes

1. Warrior – Brawl

Best Cards

As a Warrior, unless you're the one with board control, with damage-dealing minions, you can find yourself in some sticky situations. That's because you don't have a lot of spell cards to bail you out of situations. That's why one of the best cards for the Warrior class is Brawl. When this card is played, it wipes out all minions except one, effectively resetting the board. This can be a lifesaver, especially when the enemy has stacked the board full, and you have just one measly Murloc defending you.
