Grand Theft Auto V Closes in on Two Billion Twitch Streaming Hours
Grand Theft Auto V has surpassed well over a billion streaming hours on Twitch, and is now sharply approaching the two billion milestone, according to SullyGnome.
Not that it comes as a major surprise or anything, but seeing Rockstar's dearly beloved Grand Theft Auto V hit mouth-watering watch hours on Twitch is still a pretty amazing thing to watch unravel. Currently sitting with a mesmerizing 1.8 billion watch hours, the 2013 phenomenon now sits just beneath Just Chatting, which has just over 3 billion to its name.
Of course, Twitch streamers have been pouring dozens of hours into the fifth entry for just shy of a decade now, forever using its platform as a way to boost viewership and source new loyal subjects. And now, as of 2022, the game sits contently, with the crown proudly plastered to its core.
Will Grand Theft Auto 6 steal the Twitch throne?
A question that looms in the wind right now, of course, is whether or not the sequel will one-up the 2013 marvel. Although still a ways off before officially releasing, chances are, the game will topple the Twitch charts and overtake its sibling release. But, you know, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
One thing's for sure: Rockstar owes a great deal of respect to Twitch and its booming fan base. Without it, along with the 1.8 billion hours to boot, the game never would have reached every nook and cranny of the streaming world. A bold statement, sure, but one that also rings fairly true.
