Grand Theft Auto Online: 5 Things We Want in 2022

It’s been eight full years of constant evolution for this legendary game. What’s more? Fans’ insatiable appetite for this series is astounding. It’s definite that the new Grand Theft Auto 6, the sequel to the current Grand Theft Auto 5, may take longer than expected to launch. Precisely, an estimate of up to the next four years could mean a hard to swallow continued interest in the game.

Based on the current Grand Theft Auto 5, the Grand Theft Auto online counterpart promises the famous car-jacking, cop-battling, and tons of ways to make money. These often allow players to buy the fastest cars, motorcycles, the fanciest penthouses, and some good guns, among other things. It's full of million dollar heists, story missions, and enough stunt races to climb up the criminal ranks of the fictional state of San Andreas.

As Rockstar Games works hard to continuously release updates and expansions to previous games, here are five things, as well as some pointers to some hashes that we want in 2022.

5. More Interior Buildings

GTA V - ALL Interiors + Locations

There is a certain excitement with being able to access a variety of buildings within a game. The feeling that it brings insinuates a more interactive game with lived-in locations in an overall alive city. Currently, the Grand Theft Auto Online gameplay features walking on streets and driving past buildings you wish to access. Unless you are playing specific story missions, most buildings are inaccessible to you.

Interestingly enough, previous versions of the game had more interior locations. The Grand Theft Auto 4 version released back in 2007 allowed you to interact with quite a few more buildings. So, incorporating more interior locations in future updates or expansions will definitely entice fans a lot more. In such a realistic representation of the state of San Andreas, it only seems radical to equal true immersion in what actual living in whichever part of the city could look like.

4. A Regular Society

Though “regular” is uncommon in most games, especially in Grand Theft Auto, realism can go a long way to motivate players in accomplishing conquests in the game. For instance, some players now have millions of dollars in their accounts which makes the least sense to pull intense heists for table scraps.

An infamous touch to Grand Theft Auto Online is the overly efficient police system the game adopts. Regardless of where you are in the game, if you happen to commit a crime, you will have a dozen armed cops surrounding you within no time.

It makes sense to be arrested in a busy street due to the proximity of police officers and available witnesses. However, getting arrested that quickly in the middle of a desert makes very little sense. It can be pretty frustrating, especially when the systems implemented in a game fail to mimic a normal regular society.

The game could take a page from Mafia where cops take longer to respond in less dense areas, or they may not show up at all in areas where there are no witnesses. The franchise can also introduce counter-leverage to the money system or incorporate a regular economy in the storylines.

3. A Zombie Mode

GTA 5 Zombie Apocalypse Mod #1 - BEGINNING OF THE END!! (GTA 5 Mods)

Introducing a zombie mode may seem far-fetched but it can actually generate more engagement with the game. Imagine navigating a sudden zombie apocalypse in a fictional state somewhere in the United States. I mean, the practicalities of spicing up this already infamous unlawful nature of Grand Theft Auto games seems too good to resist.

Players can have an explorative feature of a city crawling with the undead, learning how to climb up the ranks in this overhauled scenario. There exists a similar mod for this scenario and it’s already quite exciting.

2. Cross-Platform Play

GTA 5 Online - Cross Platform.. is it Coming Soon??

Crossplay, or cross-platform play, allows gamers to play together regardless of their hardware type. Despite being a standard feature in most high-rated games, Grand Theft Auto Online does not support crossplay.

Rockstar attracts a huge amount of gamers who actively use their servers. This might explain why all Grand Theft Auto games lack this functionality. There have been discussions regarding the risk of a denial of service owing to an unusually large number of players signed into the game. Some argue that using a keyboard and mouse to operate a game provides PC gamers a competitive advantage over gamepads. However, limiting multiplayer mode to individuals on the same platform may be problematic for some gamers.

Crossplay has several advantages, including greater player base, cross-saves, and cross-progression. This might imply an advancement to a higher level. It might also imply progressing on one sort of hardware and resuming the game in another.

The game is currently available for purchase on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. To play with anybody else in the world, a user should ideally have these three pieces of gear. The financial ramifications simply do not appear to be reasonable for all types of users.

1. Easier Modding Tools

17 Minutes of MODDING...

In this new age, modding of the Grand Theft Auto game has continued to spark its interest and following. With consistent attempts to pump up various aspects of the game, including higher-fidelity lighting, props, responsive AI, and the zombie craze that barely scratches the surface of the endless possibilities to full interactivity and immersion into the game.

It goes without saying that with more impressive mods being released by fans worldwide, Rockstar Games gains more buyers of their game. If Rockstar Games makes it easier for modders to deploy new content, supporting their fans with an open modding platform and inclusion in their AAA titles, they are guaranteed to remain fresh in the industry.
