gpd win max 2 to compete with steam deck

With Steam Deck still raging on the internet, Gamepad Digital has taken this opportune moment to disclose a little more about its Win Max 2. And it turns out that the handheld gaming device can be a strong competitor to Valve's Steam Deck.

To begin with, GPD's Win Max 2 will be available in Intel and AMD variants. The Intel model will sport the 28W processor from the much-talked-about Alder Lake series, Core i7 – 1280P. But it's the AMD version that steals the show. Powered with Ryzen 7 6800 U, Win Max 2 is all geared up to set some performance benchmarks.

The Ryzen 7 processor features an integrated GPU Radeon 680M that is based on AMD's RDNA 2 architecture. AMD has claimed that it's 2x more powerful than the last gen Vega. Backed by 12 Compute Units, the processor runs at 2.4 GHz. Now equipped with Windows, Steam Deck can potentially get the Ryzen 7 6800U.

As far as looks are concerned, the GPD Win Max 2 looks like an enlarged version of GPD Pocket. The company has teased a sneak peek of the upcoming handheld gaming device. You can have a look at it here –

The GPD Win Max 2 sports a 10.1-inch display with extremely narrow borders, and 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. By default, this will be set to 1920 x 1200 pixels and you can alter it later. With a 65W battery, we can expect some long battery life and quick charging.

Apart from this, the Win Max 2 features LPDDR5 RAM and M.2 2280 storage. And for a second drive and LTE modem, you get an M.2 2230 slot. Thanks to the marketing images shared by the company, we know how the upcoming console looks.

As of now, GPD has not announced any dates for release and the device is still under works. Gamepad Digital has also not commented on the price of the upcoming device.
