Pixel 6a, 7, and 7 Pro Announced at Google I/O

At Google I/O, the annual conference, the company announced its new line of phones. Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro will be launched later this year. Out of the three upcoming phones, Google's presentation was emphasized on Pixel 6a, an enhanced version of Pixel 6. The tech giant refrained from sharing details about the other two phones – Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Pixel 6a will be made available later this year in July. So far, this new smartphone would be the most affordable model from the 6 series. The smartphone will sport a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 2400×1080 resolution. Unlike Pixel 6, 6a will have a 60Hz refresh rate. The IP67 phone will sport a Gorilla Glass 3 on the front while the back is crafted from plastic.

Meet the new Google Pixel 6a

On the inside, Pixel 6a is embedded with the same Tensor chip as Pixel 6. For clicking pictures, you get a 12.2MP f1.7 dual-pixel main camera along with a 12MP f2.2 ultra-wide camera on the rear. Meanwhile, the front side features an 8MP f2.0 camera.

Pixel 6 has a 4410mAh battery that lasts for 24 hours. With the new Extreme Battery Saver mode, it can last up to 72 hours. The new smartphone supports fast charging, but it doesn't have wireless charging.

Apart from this, you get additional features like 5G connectivity, dual mic, stereo speakers, HDR support, Always-On display, and the fingerprint sensor is located right on the display. Upon release, the phone will have Android 12 along with 5 years of security patches.

Google Pixel 6a is all set to be launched on July 21. The phone will be available in stores starting July 28. Buyers from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, UK and the US can get their hands on the new device right after release.

Google teased Pixel 7 and 7 Pro

As mentioned earlier, this year's conference was more focused on Pixel 6a. However, Google did give a sneak peek into the upcoming smartphones Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The Pixel 7 series will get a full reveal this fall and will be rolled out in the market soon after.

Both phones will be powered by the next generation of the Google Tensor SoC. Judging by the first look, it seems that Pixel 7 will have two rear cameras while 7 Pro sports three. The visor design has been retained from the previous series. Both Pixel 7 and 7 Pro have been crafted from polished aluminum giving them a premium look.

Apart from the three phones, Google also unveiled a Pixel Smartwatch to go with your new phones. The watch is dome-shaped and will come with Fitbit integration.

Lastly, the real surprise was a Pixel Tablet powered by Google Tensor. So far, there have been no leaks regarding a tablet. The tab was described as “designed to be a perfect companion to your Pixel phone”. Users will have to wait till 2023 to get their hands on the tablet.
