The long-awaited GoldenEye remake’s future remains uncertain as the war on Ukraine continues. In a recent tweet by Jeff Grubb, a notable games journalist mulls over the GoldenEye remake’s future.

The Nintendo 64 game, developed by Rare, was a super hit back in those times. Nintendo released the FPS shooter back in 1997, and it went on to win several awards that year. For FPS games, GoldenEye 007 is an important game as it set the future of the genre on consoles.

Considering the popularity, fans have been waiting long for a rumored return of the iconic 1990 game GoldenEye 007. However, the remake remains elusive as there have been no updates about it.

Notable journalist Jeff Grubb seems uncertain about the remake

The remake is not news to the fans. As Xbox had already introduced achievements for the game, fans were expecting a launch sooner or later.

However, in one tweet by Jeff Grubb from VentureBeats, “Goldeneye is still in limbo because of the war. 1 v 100's team lead left Microsoft. I don't know what that means for the game.”

Even though there is no direct mention of the Russia-Ukraine war, it is safe to assume that it’s partially why the remake is stalled.

There was an ongoing discussion on the topic on Twitter and Jeff Grubb nonchalantly participated in it. He made the tweet and there was an immediate response from fans. The little details Grubb shares seem pretty confident.

The game is partially set in Russia and involves a lot of gunplay and conflict. This can be another reason to pause the game for some time, considering the current scenario.

GoldenEye Remake: No announcements from the developers so far

While there is a lot of talk about the Ukrainian conflict, it can simply be a matter of time. Since Grubb has left the topic ambiguous, the game might as well be near completion, waiting for the right time to launch.

On the other hand, there is no proper announcement or declaration from the developers about the game. Therefore, another potential possibility can be that the game under discussion does not even exist.

The tweet, as alarming as it might be, is not from an official source. Therefore, fans still need to wait before they receive a confirmation from the makers.
