God of War Will Be Coming to Steam on January 14, 2022

After being chained to the PlayStation front for over three years, Santa Monica Studio will finally bring the critically acclaimed God of War to PC on January 14, 2022.

“We’re thrilled to announce that God of War (2018) will be coming to PC on January 14, 2022!” Sony Santa Monica Studio senior community manager Grace Orlady wrote. “All of us at Santa Monica Studio have been humbled by the immense amount of support and passions fans of the God of War series have shown in the latest chapter of Kratos’ story since its release. As of August 2021, 19.5M copies for God of War on PlayStation 4 have been sold through and we can’t wait to share that experience with a whole new group of players on PC.”

So, what comes next?

Of course, this won't be the first time Sony will have transported an exclusive to the PC storefront, what with Horizon Zero Dawn and Kingdom Hearts already setting up shop on Steam. And with the gaming kingpin only looking to broaden that relationship with PC users, it's incredibly unlikely that God of War will be the last to cross over to the other side, either. But as for what comes next — that's really anybody's guess.

It's a pretty big day for PC gamers, and an even bigger one for Sony. Not only will players finally be able to experience the Norse tale and all its mythical wonders — but also have the opportunity to toy with the specs and breathe a whole new life into the lungs of the award-winning phenomenon. So, a win-win situation, when you think about it. It's onwards and upwards from here, friends.
