Gears 6: Will We See a 2024 Release?

The Coalition has yet to formally announce the return of the award-winning Gears of War series, but that doesn't mean it isn't on the cards. And with a little digging, it seems as though the sixth chapter could arrive as early as 2024.

Gears of War has kept to a pretty strict three-year release routine since day one. Gears 5, which released back in 2019, technically puts Gears 6 ahead for a 2022 slate. And yet, neither the developer nor its publisher have made any real indication that the game is even in development just yet. There's a reason for that, believe it or not, though understanding it does come with a bit of bad news.

Where art thou, Gears 6?

With The Coalition shifting over to Unreal Engine 5 just last year, it does mean there'll be a transition period before the team reignite the furnace. What this also means is that Gears 6 will likely find ground on Xbox Series X/S and not its ex-gen counterpart. But, rounding back to what we said about The Coalition having a three-year rule, it could mean Gears 6 will arrive sometime around 2024. That is, of course, going by the year the team moved over to Unreal Engine 5.

It isn't a question of will it ever come to fulfillment, but when. Seeing as Gears 5 parted ways with a cliffhanger and a whole lot of suspense leading up to what we can only assume will be an epic finale, a sequel is definitely on the horizon. And so, we have no doubts about it ever releasing, though it is just a case of playing the waiting game while The Coalition gets its arsenal up to scratch.

So, what's your take? Do you think we'll catch a glimpse of Gears 6 by 2024? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
