The Esports industry has been growing leaps and bounds. And with the surging popularity, the gaming events keep getting bigger and fancier. The global-level events and expos attract players and audiences alike from all across the globe.

Often, the expos and conventions are more than just corporate events. Important news related to the gaming industry, announcements regarding upcoming games, press releases, and networking is a part of the expos. For gamers, there are entertainment activities, tournaments, trials for new games, cosplayers, and much more.

Despite the difficulties in the pandemic, the industry has thrived and we can all look forward to some of the biggest gaming events of 2022.

Top 5 Gaming Events in 2022 to Look Forward to

Here’s a list of some of the biggest gaming events, expos, and conventions scheduled for 2022.

1. Gamescom

Gamescom expo takes place in Germany every year. It is one of the biggest video games conventions in Europe and attracts gamers from all over the world. A lot of big developers make their way to this event. So, you get to know a lot of people, hear important announcements, and get interesting information.

In August 2021, the expo was held online due to the pandemic. This year, the gaming trade fair is ready to go live on the floors of Koelnmesse (Cologne, Germany). The event has been scheduled from August 24 to August 28, 2022.

 

2. Tokyo Game Show

Each year, the Tokyo Game Show gets substantial footfall and is considered one of the biggest gaming events in the world. The 4-day event has important press conferences, press releases, and a lot of games to play.

Day 1 and 2 are meant for industry and press only. On the third and fourth days, the event is thrown open to the enthusiasts. A lot of big and indie developers have their booths in the show. Cosplayers pay a visit too. Players can try out some new games at this expo. This is why the event attracts a massive crowd.

For 2022, the Tokyo Game Show is scheduled from September 15 to September 18 at Makuhari Messe.

 

3. Brasil Game Show

The Brasil Game Show is more than just an expo, convention, or gaming event. The game show attracts a large crowd, which includes gamers, cosplayers, developers, and even enthusiasts. For participants, there are a lot of activities and tournaments.

Apart from the entertainment aspects, there’s a 3-day conference. Some big names from the industry, developers, and professionals attend this conference. The gaming event encourages networking between promising new talents and the industry giants.

As of 2022, the BGS will be hosted in the Expo Centre Norte in Sao Paolo. The event will begin on October 6 and conclude on October 12.

 

4. E3

In the US, E3 (or the Electronic Entertainment Expo) is the biggest gaming event around. Just like other conventions, you get to witness some important announcements related to video games and the industry in general. E3’s popularity kept surging until Sony decided not to participate anymore. The expo was then made open to the public in 2017 which increased its attendance.

So far, ESA has not made any announcements regarding the 2022 event. No dates have been confirmed, but we can expect E3 to take place in June just like every year. Considering the pandemic situation, E3 may be hosted in Los Angeles or even online.

 

5. PAX (Penny Arcade Expo)

The PAX (or Penny Arcade Expo) started off as an indie gaming event that attracted local gamers and enthusiasts. However, over time, its popularity surged and more people started showing up. Developers followed soon after and the PAX became one of the well-known gaming expos.

In a year, PAX happens at four different locations. You can get tickets to a PAX event in Australia, Boston, San Antonio, or Seattle. However, for 2022, only the Boston event has been confirmed.

For 2022, PAX East for Boston has been confirmed and so is PAX Unplugged. PAX East 2022 will start from April 21 to April 24. Whereas, PAX Unplugged will take place from December 10 to December 12.

  • DreamHack

If you are more into esports rather than gaming, then DreamHack is an event you don’t want to miss. The event takes place in multiple places on the globe. The biggest LAN party ever was hosted by DreamHack, so now you know what to expect. This year, DreamHack will take place in Sweden, Dallas, India, Melbourne, Valencia, Atlanta, and Rotterdam.

  • Spiel

If you’re a Dungeons & Dragons fanatic, then you might want to check out Spiel. Unlike other gaming events listed here, Spiel is more focused on board games. Video games are a small part of the event. Especially, you will find video game adaptations of board games. Spiel 2022 is scheduled for October 6 to October 9.

  • Eurogamer Expo (or EGX)

Eurogamer Expo is like the E3 of London. It’s one of the biggest gaming events in the UK and is quite a crowd-puller. For 2022, there are two expos planned. The Birmingham expo is scheduled from March 4 to March 6. Meanwhile, the London expo will take place from September 22 to September 25.

  • IgroMir

IgroMir is one of the largest gaming events in Russia. Just E3, IgroMir attracts hordes of gamers with all tastes and preferences. IgroMir 2021 was canceled and postponed to 2022. The dates have not been announced yet.

  • BlizzCon

If you like Blizzard’s games, then BlizzCon is definitely for you. This event will appeal to Diablo, Starcraft, and WoW players. Blizzard had scheduled an online event ‘BlizzConline’ for February 2022. However, as of now, it stands canceled. Another event might be planned soon.
