Games on Steam is a weekly installment that tackles the latest and greatest Indie games from this popular platform. Today, we will unleash our creative juices, grow our kingdom, end a demonic infestation, and slice through enemies with a boomerang.

Swords of Legends Online

To start, we have an action MMORPG inspired by Chinese mythology. Swords of Legends is set in a visually mesmerizing fantasy landscape that you can explore through the eyes of 6 classes. They are all pretty well-balanced and let you switch between 2 builds, depending on the mission at hand. The game also has a great combat mechanic that's equally satisfying in PvP and PvE scenarios. Although the quests are a bit bland, Swords of Legends already has enough depth to keep you occupied for days and is powered by a solid story.

Plokoth

Next, we have a charming hand-drawn 2D platformer. Plokoth follows the journey of Plo as he explores the mysterious jungle in search of a cure for a dangerous illness that put his girl in a coma. The gameplay is simple yet pretty challenging and can be compared to Super Meatboy. The movement is a bit weird, but this short and fun platformer will entertain the fans of the genre.

Legion War

Legion War is a terrific fantasy strategy game. Being a leader of the legion, your job is to continuously explore the unknown and expand your territory. The game lets you choose between 4 legions that come with unique heroes, spells, technology cards, and units. The world of Legion War is also randomly generated, so you'll never know what will happen next. It is a delightfully complex and fun 4x strategy that can be enjoyed by both, casual and experienced players.

Fears to Fathom – Home Alone

And now, let's take a look at the first episode of a promising episodic horror game. Home Alone puts you in a role of a kid named Miles whose parents are out of town. The question is – can you make the right choices and survive the night? Although short, Home Alone managed to quickly create a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere, which made me eager to see how this series will continue.

Black Skylands

In Black Skylands, you will jump into your skyship and traverse the vast open-world filled with pirates and monsters. Here, you can engage in both ground and aerial combat, while having a huge arsenal of weapons at your disposal. Skyship is also fully customizable so that it can fit any play style. As you defeat your enemies and expand your aerial base, you will be able to build an even stronger ship that will blast through anything. In short, this is a solid action sandbox that can take up hours of your time.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

It's been a long time coming, but we finally got a PC version of a great action RPG. Monstrum Nox is the newest installment in a cult Ys franchise and follows the story of 6 Monstrums. Each of them has a special gift that helps them protect their city from shadowy creatures led by Grimwald Nox. The game is set in a massive city filled with medieval aesthetics, that sets up a sinister atmosphere. Monstrum Nox also has an addictive, fast-paced combat system that looks stylish. It may not be the best entry in the series, but it's a damn good one.

Eastern Exorcist

After lengthy early access, Eastern Exorcist finally became available as a full game. This is a challenging 2D action RPG filled to the brim with epic battles. You play as an exorcist tasked with stopping the demonic infestation and returning the world to what it once was. Easter Exorcist has a satisfying combat system, but will also brutally punish your mistakes. It is also visually mesmerizing, with a lot of memorable hand-drawn scenes inspired by the Chinese art style. All in all, this is one of the better games on Steam for the fans of souls like titles.

Such Art

Such Art is a painting simulator that lets you unleash your inner creative juices. Developers did their best to provide an immersive painting experience, and they really hit the mark. Each aspect, from the ways, colors mix to the texture of the paint itself, and the physics of each tool, feels realistic. Once you create your painting, it's time to sell it on market and make a name for yourself as an artist. Such Art is a delight to play and I think everyone can get something out of it.

Legend of Homebody

Legend of Homebody is a life sim that follows the story of a shut-in. Your goal is to earn money and study hard, but this is much easier said than done. Although the interface is simple, the game is deceptively difficult and requires thinking multiple steps ahead. Legend of Homebody lets you play 3 characters with a unique set of skills, so it has a pretty good replay value. If you like gathering achievements and planning, this game is for you.

Boomerang X

The last entry in Games on Steam is a unique FPS where you will fight evil forces with your magic boomerang. Besides slicing through enemies, you can also use it as a slingshot, which makes for hectic gameplay. Not to mention other hidden powers that get uncovered later on. Boomerang X is all about speed and style, so you will need to be on your A-game if you wish to survive. In short, this is a fun and creative experience that came as a complete surprise.
