Games on Steam: The Last Frontier

Updated on

Games on Steam is a weekly installment that tackles this popular platform’s latest and greatest Indie games. Today, we learn how to traverse through the multiverse, survive in the Arctic, shoot down fatal viruses, and more.

Rogue Tower

To start, we have a solid roguelike tower defense Indie. What makes it different is that your kingdom continually expands, so proper placement of towers and allocation of your funds is crucial. It all starts simple enough, but with 400+ upgrades and cards, things are bound to get complex. In short, Rogue Tower is a welcome addition to the genre as it's challenging and offers something unique.

What Lies in the Multiverse (Prologue)

What Lies in the Multiverse is a promising upcoming adventure made by Studio Voyager. In it, you shift through dimensions to solve complex puzzles and progress the story. Speaking of it, it's a weird mix of hilarious and macabre that somehow just works. What Lies in the Multiverse already shows a lot of heart and interesting puzzles, so I am definitely keeping an eye on the full game. Also, you can try the prologue for free, so there's nothing to lose.

Dread Hunger

If you are looking for a new social-deduction game, I'd recommend Dread Hunger. Set in the unforgiving Arctic, you are tasked with surviving and finding out the traitors that boarded your ship. If you are one, you can give your crewmates tainted food, or use many creative ways to secure their demise. Things will go south really quickly, so, the question is: “How far will you go to survive in the cold?”.

Deflector

Deflector is an early access hack-and-slash bullet hell set on an alien world. Your job is to eradicate fatal viruses, which is quite challenging. Luckily, you can evolve your DNA in various ways to unlock new abilities that'll make your job easier. Bullets can also be deflected, which adds an interesting dynamic to the gameplay. So far, the game lets you choose between 4 characters with distinct play styles. Deflector is like a mix of Hades and Hyper Light Drifter, and I am curious to see where it will go from here.

Zenith: The Last City

Lastly, we have a promising VR Anime MMORPG. Zenith is set in an endless universe filled with beautiful worlds and adventures at every corner. So far, we have 2 classes (Blade Master and Essence Mage) with 3 subclasses that you can switch through instantly. Combat is engaging and the swordplay is especially satisfying if you manage to parry your opponents. Although it just came out, Zenith offers 100+ hours of content, a rich storyline, and is one of the most immersive VR RPGs around.
