Forza Street Will Be Shutting Down This Spring

Updated on

Forza Street, Turn 10 Studio's lesser-known and much less popular mobile spin-off game will be shutting down this Spring.

After just two years on the shelves, Microsoft will be pulling the plug on Forza Street, with its servers and all in-game functions expected to close this Spring.

“We’re proud and grateful for the community of players we were able to build with Forza Street, and we want to use what we learned on building new and exciting Forza products,” a statement from developer Electric Square mentioned.

Unfortunately, Forza Street failed to latch onto most fans of the series from the get-go, with many players slating it for its excessive use of microtransactions and its alienated mechanics.

Not your traditional Forza experience

Unlike traditional Forza games, Forza Street had players timing their acceleration and braking, as opposed to actually steering the cars. Of course, that didn't bode too well with the users. And now, it seems as though the game's poor reputation has helped plunge it into the dirt. The question is: how long before it sinks?

Of course, current players with in-game currency can still make purchases before the servers shut down. Users that have made purchases with real money, however, will be automatically refunded.

“Our goal is for our dedicated players to have an opportunity to finish off their collection goals,” the statement continued.

Until the servers finally shut down, players will have 12 weeks of Spotlight++ which will feature Rare and Epic cars. Users will also be able to enjoy the slashed prices on in-game items, as well as benefit from the increased energy storage.
