Former The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 developers have opened a new studio, rebel wolves. It will, as you might assume, be centered on role-playing games. The company's first objective is to create a new “dark fantasy, AAA RPG saga for PCs and next-gen consoles.”

We assume this implies PlayStation 5. However, by the time this project is completed, we may be in the PS6 era.

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who was game director on The Witcher 3 and secondary game director on Cyberpunk 2077 at CD Projekt Red, is spearheading the project. Tomaszkiewicz, officially announced Rebel Wolves earlier today. Tomaszkiewicz left CD Projekt Red in 2021 after bullying accusations. Former Witcher 3 game director Bartomiej Gawe, writer Jakub Szamaek, and animation director Tamara Zawada are among the ex-CD Projekt Red developers who will join him in the new studio.

According to a press release, Rebel Wolves is working on a new story-driven RPG. The developers will be using Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5, which is a powerful next-gen game engine.

Rebel Wolves are creating this story-driven RPG exclusively for PC and new-gen consoles. Therefore we expect it to be on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Furthermore, it is the first edition of a planned saga, which means that if it does well, we may see a sequel or spin-off games from Rebel Wolves' maiden excursion.

The studio's announcement places a strong emphasis on its employees' well-being.

“Driven by the desire to build a passionate team dedicated to creating vibrant virtual worlds, filled to the brim with powerful emotions and unique experiences, Konrad envisioned a new studio with a united goal of doing things differently while also putting the team first at all times,” a statement reads, adding that they aim to break away “from the weight of AAA development studios.”

Rebel Wolves is still in the early stages of development; it's currently hiring, so we won't see the results of its labor for a while.
