FaZe Clan Wins IEM Katowice CS: GO 2022 Finals
After a series of nail-biting battles and action-packed matches, all eyes were fixated on the IEM Katowice 2022 CS: GO finals. G2 Esports and FaZe Clan faced each other at final showdown in the Spodek Arena. And the 2022 Katowice final skirmishes were nothing short of thrilling.
FaZe Clan emerged triumphant and bagged the whopping $1 million prize. To get to this point, Faze Clan defeated Heroic, Team Liquid, and Gambit. The whole team put on their best performance. But with 97 kills, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken was the star performer.
It was a rough start for FaZe
The first map, Inferno, was dominated by G2 Esports from the get-go. Notably, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, the AWPer, put on a fine show. Thanks to him, the team got a 3-0 lead. The rifle rounds that followed saw FaZe struggling economically and getting down to pistols. With some spectacular gunplay from Banana, G2 Esports reached a lead of 7-1.
Even though FaZe was trying hard, the first half was mostly dominated by G2. FaZe's efforts led to a score of 7-11. Just when things had started looking up for FaZe, G2 went on a tactical timeout. The tables turned as G2 broke through B site and took the control back. The score stood at 15-8 and the action kept intensifying.
Broky and Ropz Stole the Show
G2 was gaining momentum. However, Helviijs “broky” Saukants gave the team some hope with an insane triple kill. Very soon, the two teams were shoulder to shoulder with a 13-15 score. Broky pushed through Round 29 and was a definite target for G2 in Round 30. G2 targeted broky, but Robin “Ropz” Kool saved the day with an insane 4-kill which was FaZe Clan's ticket to overtime.
And FaZe absolutely owned the overtime. Of course, there were little ups and downs; but it was mostly ups for FaZe Clan as they took home the title. Niko and broky were in the race for MVP. However, it was broky's game that made the mark.

Perhaps, the Mirage map was the most nail-biting one to watch, and it had 5 overtimes. Even though everything seemed to be in FaZe's favor, G2 Esports wasn't just about to give up. G2 proved that they were still in the game and put on a fierce defense.
With 57 kills, Nemanja “huNter” Kovac was giving it his all, and G2 almost tied the tournament. Things started looking difficult in Dust II, but G2 kept going. After Dust II, the score stood at 16-14 with FaZe bagging the victory.
Up until the finals, both Niko and broky delivered stellar performances. However, Niko's K/D slipped in Dust II and Inferno. In the end, broky took the MVP title with an impressive 95-80 K/D ratio.
