End of the Abyss- Story

Cel is a bright, driven, and highly skilled adolescent combat mechanic who is suddenly thrust into a task that is far more difficult and deadly than she could have ever imagined. Her courage, resolve, and ability to adapt under constant pressure are put to the test as a simple assignment quickly turns into a terrifying ordeal. As Cel explores the deteriorating remnants of a once-functional underground facility, she must unearth horrifying mysteries concealed beneath the debris. These unsettling hints suggest the evil powers currently hiding in the shadows and explain the terrible destiny of those who came before her.

Each encounter is more intense and unpredictable than the last, as she must face and fight gigantic, terrible creatures that stalk the black hallways, utilizing her extensive training, keen intuition, and unshakable bravery. She must traverse a world where the physical and psychological demands mount with each step, testing her boundaries. But surviving on its own is insufficient. To truly escape the nightmare, Cel must uncover the truth behind the facility’s unfortunate downfall and determine her role in what lies ahead.

Gameplay

Players are set to use a Scanner, a small, compact gadget that uses multiple laser beams to scan the area.  Additionally, players utilize gear acquired throughout the game to navigate a complex web of branching paths and uncover hidden areas. As the character steadily grows stronger, new levels unlock, prompting returns to earlier zones for deeper investigation. By persevering, staying curious, and observing closely, players earn rewards while navigating forgotten halls, opening once-inaccessible zones, and revealing long-hidden secrets.

As players descend deeper into the dark, labyrinthine interior of the complex, the creatures they encounter grow increasingly grotesque and nightmarish. What begins as encounters with vaguely human-like figures, twisted bodies with exposed skulls, and pulsating, fleshy growths soon escalates into far more disturbing forms. Limbs bend in unnatural ways, faces contort into unrecognizable expressions, and movement becomes erratic, unpredictable, and deeply unsettling. Development

Epic Games Publishing, in partnership with developer Section 9 Interactive, has formally announced the upcoming release of End of Abyss. This science-fiction action-adventure game promises an engrossing blend of battle, exploration, and atmospheric storytelling. The reveal highlights the collaboration between a major publisher and a rising developer, setting the stage for a game that aims to push the genre’s boundaries through furious gameplay and an immersive universe.

One of the developers, Mattia Otval, shared insights and explained that the game’s overall design and creative direction drew partial inspiration from the Alien movie series. He noted that the tension and visual style of those classic sci-fi horror films heavily influenced various elements, such as claustrophobic environments, oppressive moods, and an ever-present sense of danger. Through carefully crafted settings and contextual storytelling, the developers aimed to evoke the same fear and vulnerability that made the Alien series iconic.

The trailer begins with wide, lingering shots that set a gloomy tone, slowly giving way to several figures emerging from a dimly lit room as faint light barely cuts through the grey-blue gloom. A menacing voice announces, “We are waiting for you,” while isometric gameplay snippets show Cel, the main character, moving cautiously through the area with her weapon ready.
