Electronic Arts Reportedly Working on a New Single-player, Open-World Black Panther Video Game
According to reports, Electronic Arts is working on an open-world Black Panther video game.
This weekend, the Wakanda Forever teaser from Comic-Con gave Marvel fans a taste of what's to come for Black Panther. However, it appears there's more to come.
Journalist Jeff Grubb revealed the details of the upcoming game on a Twitch stream earlier today. Grubb had also hinted the news on Twitter after the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever teaser aired at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con yesterday.

“It is a single-player game, it is in very early development, and the game starts with Black Panther being dead,” said Jeff Grubb.
“The player is going to take on the challenges of becoming the new Black Panther and that seems to be the set-up for the game.”
The game will be an open-world single-player game with an element of an origin tale. The new Black Panther game does not appear to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Marvel's Avengers. The player becomes the new Black Panther, since the game takes place after the death of the former Black Panther.
EA will be working on the new title from a new studio run by former Monolith Productions VP, Kevin Stephens. Stephens is well-versed in the genre, having served as the head of Monolith during the creation of Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor and Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War.
Grubb also revealed that the information and details he has on the game are from the pitch for the title. He continued to say that the game has been codenamed “Project Rainier.” The codename alludes to Seattle's Mount Rainier, where EA's new studio location. The project is still in its early stages, so a release date remains unclear.
Kevin Stephens, the former studio director of Monolith Productions, joined EA in May last year. EA announced that he would head a new studio concentrating on creating open-world action-adventure games.
