Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion — Everything We Know

The 2023 Marvelous Games Showcase event was packed with lots of surprises. First was the official confirmation of the development of Rune Factory 6 and its spin-off Project Dragon. The second was that Daemon X Machina would receive a sequel called Titanic Scion. Aside from the all-new title in development, Marvelous’ First Studio and visionary producer Kenichiro Tsukuda will also return to work on the project.

The first Daemon X Machina game was released in 2019 exclusively on Switch platforms, then ported to PC platforms in 2020. Now, fans can look forward to an all-new entry in the series. Although the announcement didn’t go into much detail, we’ve gathered all we can find about the story, gameplay, release date, and more in our Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion – Everything We Know article below.

What is Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion?

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is an upcoming third-person mech shooter. It will be a direct sequel to the critically acclaimed Daemon X Machina game. Above all, fans love the Arsenal action. Thus, having the game return with an all-new entry is a hugely welcome surprise. For reference, here’s a brief overview courtesy of the official PR:

“DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion: Marvelous' First Studio and visionary producer Kenichiro Tsukuda are back with an all-new entry in the third-person mech shooter series. Fans can look forward to the return of unforgettable Arsenal action, with more details about this anticipated sequel becoming available at a later date.”

Story

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion's storyline still remains a mystery. We know for certain that Arsenal action will take center stage. Also, the featured stylized images in the Marvelous Showcase event will likely be one of the lead Arsenals that will appear in the new game. Otherwise, we don’t know much detail about the storyline the sequel will take.

Gameplay

The Marvelous Game Showcase 2023 event didn’t reveal any useful information about Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion’s gameplay. All we saw was a 3D peek at the mech build players will likely control. Besides that, Marvelous’ western subsidiary, XSEED Games, dubbed the sequel “the return of unforgettable Arsenal Action.” So, we can at least expect a similar adrenaline-infused mech shooter experience to Daemon X Machina

Daemon X Machina is a fantastic experimental mech action game. Its gameplay is always guaranteed to make you have a good time, regardless of how many times you come back to it. The story is somewhat lackluster; it's pretty much the one you forget the moment you put your controller down. The same goes for the mission structure.

But the story or missions aren’t the point of the game. It’s the solid armor memories, where you customize your arsenal/mech of choice. Upgrade your arsenal and gain new weapons to fight enemies. And put in hours upon hours of entertaining, visually striking moment-to-moment action. With the announcement of a sequel, it’s good to know Daemon X Machina’s nostalgic mech genre is here to stay.

Development

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is officially in the works and set to release sometime in the future. Marvelous’ First Studio will take the lead in the development process. Also, visionary producer Kenichiro Tsukuda returns to contribute to the game’s production process.

Other than that, we know little else about Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion’s development, including the timeline or software the studio will use. From the stylized images of the new Arsenal revealed in the Marvelous Showcase event, though, it looks like the graphics will likely receive a huge leap forward to fit with the times.

Marvelous and XSEED Games have always been a favorite developer/publisher combo. With their Marvelous Games Showcase 2023, plenty of good surprises lay in wait for fans. Among all upcoming releases, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion took the lead. Which felt just right as it was the last announcement of the day, closing off the show. Although the trailer was a bit off, like those pre-rendered trailers people make fun of, it still carried the day. Daemon X Machina sold amazingly well on Switch. It’s only right that a sequel grace our screens, hopefully sometime soon.

Trailer

Marvelous Game Showcase 2023

At the moment, Marvelous is yet to release a gameplay trailer for Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion. All we have is an official announcement that the game is in development, as well as a brief CG trailer. It shows Marvelous’ First Studio and producer Kenichiro Tsu kuda's return to develop Titanic Scion. Additionally, the trailer features a 3D peek at the mech build players will assume the role of.

The CG teaser goes in-depth into stylized images of the Arsenal mech. And it looks ravishing enough to anticipate controlling it when the game finally releases. Afterwards, we see the title of the new game as well as the new logo reveal for the sequel. You can watch the CG trailer at the Marvelous Game Showcase 2023 event from the 28:12 mark to the end here.

Release Date, Editions & Platforms

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion — Everything We Know

Marvelous is yet to reveal any information about the release date, editions, or platforms that Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion will release on. During the Marvelous Showcase event, there was no mention of a launch window, editions, or any platforms the game will be available on. However, since Daemon X Machina was released as a Switch exclusive in 2019, and afterwards the game was released on PC in 2020, perhaps the sequel will follow the same path. Only time will tell.

Marvelous’ official PR did state that they will continually reveal more details about the sequel at a later date. For now, though, this is everything we know about Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion. With confirmation of more details to come, do stay tuned to the Marvelous official Twitter handle here. We’ll also be sure to inform you as soon as any new information comes up.
