Cyberpunk 2077 Is Reportedly Getting a Game of the Year Edition in 2023

According to reports, the high-tech low-life world of Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a Game of the Year Edition. What began as a bumpy road for CD Projekt Red's latest title when it was first released in 2020 has now taken a sharp turn in public opinion. When Cyberpunk 2077 first came out, fans grabbed torches and pitchforks and ran at the developers for releasing the game in a nearly unplayable state. However, after two years of CD Projekt Red's hard work on updates and bug fixes, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally molded into what it always intended to be.

Now that the game has reached a finalized state, it seems developers are eager to get a Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year Edition underway. As reported by Insider Gaming, CD Projekt Red CEO, Adam Kicinski revealed that their team has plans to release a Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year Edition in 2023, following the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC, and another “Substantial Update”.

“It's the natural order of thing's,” say's Kicinski. “it was the same with The Witcher, which after both expansions was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition and has been on the market that way ever since. The same can be expected in this case.”

Game of the Year Edition, DLC, and More

Considering CD Projekt Red's last game, The Wither series, saw a Game of the Year Edition for each installment, it's not too much of a surprise they plan to do the same with Cyberpunk 2077. However, it's not just expected to arrive on PC, but for next-gen consoles as well. According to the report, we won't see this edition of Cyberpunk 2077, until after the Phantom Liberty DLC, whose release date is still to be determined.

We do know that the Phantom Liberty DLC will cost money. However, it will be interesting to see if it is automatically included in the rumored Game of the Year Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 that's expected to release after the DLC. We've also heard of leaks for the next Cyberpunk game, Project Orion, which it is reportedly codenamed. All together, it seems like there is exciting news on the horizon for Cyberpunk 2077.  Let's just hope everything goes as smoothly as we hoped for the original release of Cyberpunk 2077.
