Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year Edition Announced

Updated on

CD Projekt Red will be releasing a Game of the Year Edition of 2020's Cyberpunk 2077 at some stage in 2023.

It's only natural at this point that a game with countless awards under its belt receives a Game of the Year Edition. In this case, it's Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most sought after first-person shooters of the decade. Turns out, CD Projekt Red will be channelling its focus into bundling all post-launch content from the game into one package, similar to what the studio did with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt following its global release.

“It's the natural order of things,” Adam Kiciński of CD Projekt Red explained. “It was the same with [The Witcher 3], which, after both expansions, was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition and has been on the market that way ever since. The same can be expected in this case.”

When Will Cyberpunk 2077 GOTY Release?

There is a slight downside to this, and that is that we don't actually know the date of its release. What we do know, however, is that it will be coming after the launch of the Phantom Liberty DLC. It's also believed that the new version will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. As for any potential ex-gen ports — now that remains to be heard. In this case, though, it's probably best to assume that it'll be locked to next-gen hardware only.

According to CD Projekt Red, the GOTY edition will come preloaded with all post-launch content, and the Phantom Liberty DLC. For more updates on the new edition, you can check in with official social feed here.
