Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners Update Released

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has released Update 1.6, dubbed “Edgerunners Update.” The developer announced during its Night City Wire Livestream that the update is the last significant content update for users of last-gen consoles. 

Edgerunners is currently available on all platforms and adds a number of intriguing new features to the game. Players now have the option to use mirrors, reshape their characters' faces, bodies, and robotics, and even put Nibbles the cat in their screenshots. The update also includes Roach Race, the first of a planned series of arcade machines.

With this update we focused on bringing various fixes and improvements, as well as adding new Edgerunners-inspired content to the game – including new missions, clothing, and weapons.

The Edgerunners Update adds a ton of new features that will tie in with the upcoming Cyberpunk Edgerunners Netflix anime. The animated series tells the narrative of David Martinez, an ambitious Edgerunner who loses everything at age 18. However, he manages to acquire some incredibly potent cyberware. Productions like Ghost in the Shell and Akira serve as major inspirations for the Edgerunners anime series. The show will air next Tuesday. 

David Martinez's jacket is currently available as an in-game clothing item in the Edgerunners update. Players will be able to wear David Martinez's iconic yellow jacket and wield a new weapon from the anime. The clothing and weapons are likely to be located in a new quest and playable character that is tied to the show. A notable addition to Update 1.6 of Cyberpunk 2077 is the transmogrification function. The function allows players to adopt the aesthetics of a different set of garments while keeping their existing stats.

CD Projekt Red also revealed Phantom Liberty, a major update for Cyberpunk 2077. According to the developer, the update will launch in 2023. The expansion's trailer also revealed that it will only be accessible via PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC.
