CS:GO: Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg leaves NiP and joins Dignitas

Updated on

Considered by far the greatest player in the history of Counter-Strike, Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg closed another cycle in his career. After more than seven years wearing the Ninjas in Pajamas shirt, the veteran left the organization. The announcement came on Tuesday. For the vacancy left by f0rest, NiP agreed to hire Tim “nawwk” Jonasson, ex-GamerLegion.

In the team since August 2012, Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg was the last representative of NiP's original lineup, who dominated the first year of competitions and won the ESL One Cologne 2014 title, in addition to the vices of four other Majors. The team was undefeated by 87 maps in face-to-face events. According to figures released by NiP itself, the player leaves the team with 64 titles won and 8 MVP medals.

Hours after the announcement of his departure, Dignitas informs that he is back at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and has gathered a team of old acquaintances. The new quintet of the American organization has Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg, Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, Adam “friberg” Friberg and Richard “Xizt” Landström, from the iconic Ninjas in Pajamas who played five major finals and dominated the scene between 2012 and 2013. The young Norwegian Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli completes the lineup. The announcement, which had been awaited for weeks, took place on Tuesday. Fifth member of the multi-champion team, Robin “Fifflaren” Johansson will coach the team.

When this offer came to me, I felt it was the best chance for my future. Mainly because I didn't want to end my career, I had that feeling inside me, something I hadn't felt in a while. Joining an organization like Dignitas is a dream come true, largely because of the people working on it, the team itself and the goals we have for the future. I am more excited to wake up every day knowing that it will be a battle, but a battle that I will not give up so easily – said GeT_RighT.

Base of the lineup of the new Dignitas, the quartet of Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg, Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, Adam “friberg” Friberg and Richard “Xizt” Landström, are reunited after two years apart. Before the breakup, the four played together for Ninjas in Pajamas for almost five years – a record in CS:GO's competitive history. During this period, they won the ESL One Cologne Major in 2014 and were runners-up in four other opportunities. In addition, the team made history by being undefeated by 87 maps played in person between 2012 and 2013.

Dignitas' debut is scheduled for the first online selective of the European minor of ESL One Rio Major, which takes place on January 31 and February 1.
