Coral Island Officially Launches on Steam

Updated on

Coral Island, a new life sim game that is heavily centered around an ocean community, has finally launched on Steam in early access. The game can currently be snatched up for $24.99 and will be receiving regular updates. The project initially launched as a Kickstarter at the end of January of 2021. Within 12 hours, the game met its funding goal. Its success didn't end there. By the end of the Kickstarter campaign, backers had unlocked every single one of the game's stretch goals. Since then, Stairway Games has actively been updating players and working to implement promised features into the game.

What Features are in Coral Island

The game has launched with several of its promised features, including 25 marriage candidates who are ready to woo players. Currently, the game allows players to farm through four different seasons, participate in community projects, fish, go diving, and mine. There is a large list of things to do, especially for an early-access game, with over 70 plus NPCs already implemented. There's no shortage of lore to dig into. The ability to decorate your farm and house is even included in the current version of the game, something that Animal Crossing fans will greatly appreciate.

What's Coming Next for Coral Island?

Currently, the team is working on the next batch of features for Coral Island.  In addition, the developers have put out a list of which features they are actively working on:

  • Marriage
  • Children
  • NPC Storylines
  • Heart Events
  • Diving and Mining Maps
  • Enhancing the Winter Season
  • Festivals
  • Combat
  • Merfolk

Players should note that being able to carry their saved game through all the updates isn't guaranteed.  Stairway Games stated that they will try their best to keep things in order, but some updates could possibly force them to reset players to day one.
