call of duty vanguard tips for beginners

Call of Duty: Vanguard rolled out in September and caused quite a buzz in the gaming town. After some funny glitches, OP shotguns, and awkward spawns, Vanguard seems to be on track now. Perhaps, being late to the party sometimes pays off.

With Vanguard, Call of Duty took us back to WWII, and it also continues the Dark Aether storyline. So, you have got a thrilling campaign, insane multiplayer battles, and zombies packed in this COD title. The action-packed multiplayer mode in Vanguard is fit for a know-it-all pro and a got-lucky newbie as well.

To get that ultimate ‘gaming’ experience, you want to ensure that you don’t waste your time in figuring out the basics. As a lot of players have already progressed, you can avoid their pitfalls. With that in mind, here’s a handful of the best Call of Duty Vanguard tips for beginners.

And here are some tips that would make your start a little less clumsy.

1. Disable the World Motion Blur

If you are not used to a ‘cinematic’ experience in video games, you might want to disable this feature right off the bat. In fact, the “blur” might make it harder to spot enemies. Some players might actually find it distracting and annoying.

The same goes with the Weapon Motion Blur and other camera and visual settings. By default, the camera sensitivity is set to the max. This might make the camera real shaky in some combat scenarios.

The best way to find out if the default settings are okay is to play a campaign first. If you find the FOV too narrow or the blur hazy, you can alter the settings as per your preferences.

2. Don’t go “by default”

Don’t head out straight into the battlefield and start gunning with the default settings. Depending on your playstyle and controller, the default sensitivity might be too “stiff” or too “smooth”. Try to find a sweet spot between 4 to 8 for vertical and horizontal sensitivity.

If you’re ADS-ing, then you want to have good control over the weapon. The ADS sensitivity multiplier has a lot to do with the controller you have. To find a comfortable level, you will have to test different levels in a match.

To save some battery, you would want to turn the vibration off. For some, the constant buzzing could get distracting. If you are not sure about the perfect layout, you can try different ones in a private match.

3. Use a good pair of headphones

This sounds like an obvious piece of advice, but having a good audio setup will definitely make you a tough competitor. You can hear every reload, footstep, and even your squad's barking. The audio cues combined with High Alert or Radar perk will make you invincible. Turn off the music and any other audio that masks the cues.

And this brings us to the flip side of it, that is – the players on the other side might have fancy headphones too. This means they can hear every twig that cracks under your feet. To avoid getting killed too often, equip the Ninja perk.

The Ninja perk will let you step around silently, lower your fall damage, and also bog down the enemy’s Tracker perk. But don’t stop at Ninja. You also want to grab that Ghost perk for immunity against the UAVs. A lot of beginners tend to use UAVs for quick kills. Ghost will shield you against these sudden deaths.

4. Be smart with the weapons

Choosing the right weapons is as important as your gunplay. For close-to-mid-range fights, have a good Assault Rifle or an SMG. Shotguns in tiny maps can wreak havoc too. But for long-range combat, LMGs and snipers are more suitable.

Without weapon XP, you can’t unlock the actual useful attachments and perks. And without the attachments, the loadout seems kind of “meh”. However, initially, you will have to play with a base weapon and whatever guns are available. You’ll have to pick 2-3 guns to level up first.

Camo challenges offer XP as a reward. Zip past them to max out your favorite guns. In the meantime, if you have blueprints, do use them because they have some attachments. This will give you a slight edge during initial skirmishes.

5. Dominate the Blitz mode

The new ‘Combat Pacing’ features enable players to determine how many opponents they want to face. Tactical is good old 6v6, Assault mode will drop 28 players on the map, and the Blitz would crowd the map with 48 players.

To level up faster, you cannot go wrong with the Blitz mode. When you aren’t confident about your loadout, it’s better to go all bonkers on a tiny map with a mediocre gun. A lot of new players find the Blitz mode fun and easy. If you have a decent sniper loadout, you can go for Assault or Tactical.

The aim is to level up faster, get more XP, and also complete challenges alongside. Just like in every other COD title, higher-level weapons, perks, and other cool things unlock at higher levels.

Some bonus tips

  • It’s always smarter to test out sensitivity settings. That way, you will be more in control and work out what’s best for you.
  • To get a hang of the weapons and the meta, you can go for the campaign first and then try multiplayer.
  • Make sure your controls are responsive. To beat the input lag, you might want to avoid using the triggers on the controller.
  • Don’t forget the UAVs, Spy Planes, and other killstreaks that will get you more kills. If you are average at gunplay, then don’t skip out on these.
  • Playing multiplayer is easier with a team that you know. Together, you can work out a strategy. Playing with random strangers isn't always easy.
  • If possible, equip a bayonet. It might come in handy in a close-quarter combat situation. However, a bayonet isn’t necessary and definitely not for everyone.
  • Lastly, to make things easier, turn on the Aim Assist and Automatic Sprinting. This will lend you more accuracy and make sprinting quicker and easier.
