With 2022 just behind the corner, it's time to look back and see which games made this year memorable. Here are our top 5 contenders for best PS5 adventures.

The Pathless

To start, we have the biggest surprise and one that you could easily overlook. The Pathless follows the story of an archer and her eagle, as they travel through mesmerizing landscapes in search of a mystical island. The movement mechanics is fluid, simple, and satisfying. As you move through the vast open world, you'll never be sure what awaits around the corner. The Pathless features epic battles reminiscent of the Shadow of the Colossus, and its puzzles give a nod to the Breath of the Wild. In short, this is a lovely adventure filled with memorable scenery that'll stay with you for a while.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

With Sackboy, Sumo Digital sacrificed the DIY level design that made LittleBigPlanet popular and focused on honing the platforming elements. The idea was a success, and we got a charming Mario-like game that you can play solo or in co-op. Sackboy brims with creativity, and with its constantly-changing environment, it never had the chance to feel stale.

PS5s most heartwarming adventure

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Miles Morales follows the journey of Peter Parker's protege, a young boy who was also bitten by a GMO spider. While still having much to learn, he has to protect NY on his own and find out what it takes to be a hero. Miles Morales is a charmful and engaging addition to the series that doesn't stray too far from its predecessor but adds a few interesting gameplay mechanics. Visually, it's among the best-looking superhero games, and one we would recommend if you want to experience PS5 in all its glory.

A strong continuation of classic superhero series

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank has always been an amazing series, and Rift Apart just cemented this notion. Aside from amazing graphics, the game features smooth gameplay and a heartfelt story that keeps you invested. Rift Apart is a direct sequel to Into the Nexus but is also welcoming to the new players. The combat is similar to the older entries in the series, but it's so polished and fun that we can't really complain.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Lastly, we have the 12th installment of the popular action-adventure franchise. Valhalla takes place in 873 AD, right at the time where Vikings decided to invade Britain. As a raider Eivor, we are thrust into a massive open world that twists and turns based on our decisions. It seems that Ubisoft has finally mastered the mix of adventure and RPG elements, as Valhalla doesn't sacrifice the gameplay while telling an engaging story. With 60+ hours of material, it stands among the best and most ambitious PS5 adventures.
