Best Armor in Wild Hearts

A new entrant in the Monster Hunter franchise, Wild Hearts goes above and beyond to deliver an enthralling adventure in the mythical land of Azuma. Aside from the usual skill building and weapon crafting that Monster-Hunter games are accustomed to, Wild Hearts introduces a unique building system, the Karakuri. This system amps your playstyle, allowing you to craft tactical items in combat. This proves useful when hunting down the colossal monsters known as Kemonos.

The kemonos are an abominable lot, featuring an elemental style that multiplies their size. As such, fighting them requires skill and a fine selection of one of the game's eight weapons. Moreover, you'll need to defend yourself from incoming attacks whether you're playing defense or offense. Fortunately, Wild Hearts has an impressive line of armor that lets you aptly gear up for each battle. If you're wondering which armor you should pick, here's a simple guide that details the five best armors in Wild Hearts.

5. Young Samurai Garb

Best Armor in Wild Hearts

As one of the early set gears in the game, the Young Samurai Garb is pretty decent, owing to its impressive skills and stats. The armor lets you choose between a Human-path or a Kemono-path. The human path is suitable for layers wishing to use human technology to amp their combat, while the Kemono path world is best for players with a knack for nature and an understanding of how the Kemono works.

Moreover, the armor offers a significant health boost on your waist and chest, as well as defense bonuses. The armor also has increasing Karakuri threads you can extract each time. The thread is especially vital when changing your appearance or building bulwarks. The only drawback with this set is its vulnerability against fire attacks. But that shouldn't worry you since you can switch it out for fire-resistant armor when battling the fire-breathing Kemonos. With the right set of upgrades, you can use this armor set, which offers robust baseline protection paired with resistance. You'll need a couple of Sapscourge Horns, ancient lumber, gold, and Ragetail's Pelt Fang and Tail to craft this armor.

4. Fresh Fern Armor Set

Best Armor in Wild Hearts

Much like the Young Samurai Garb, the Fresh Fern Armor is an early access set you receive after defeating the Ragetail in Chapter 1. What's more, you don't need to hunt a creature to build this armor. But, you'll still need to find materials such as the Small Crystal Ore and pile up 50 gold to construct it. Fortunately, you can get all these materials at the Giant Tree Trunk Camp.

The armor offers excellent defensive stats which safeguard you against attacks. On top of that, it's one of the armors with a unique skill that tops off your defense. The armor's sune-ate and gauntlets contain 13% Antitoxon which is valuable against deadly attacks from Kemonos such as the Venomglider that wields venom.

Materials

  • Headgear -x2 Ancient Lumber and 50 Gold
  • Body Armor – X2 Ancient lumber, x1 Lizard Bloom and 50 Gold
  • Gauntlets – x1 Samll Kemono Skin, x2 Ancient Lumber, 50 Gold
  • Kusazuri – x1 Samll Crystal Ore and 50 Gold
  • Sune-ate – x1 Small Scale and 50 Gold

3. Ocean Wave Armor

Perfect for a stealth build, the Ocean Wave armor becomes available after reaching the Natsukodachi Isle. With the armor, you can topple a Kemono using a sneak attack. Although it lacks the right defense builds, the armor makes up for it with a 16% stealth Art in its Uwagi gauntlet and the Mohomiki.

You'll find that fights with this armor only progress for a short time. However, you'll need to be agile in your steps. Slow movement increases your vulnerability to attacks, and the armor doesn't hold out for long.

Materials

  • Hachimaki– x2 Serpent Slough, 2 Small Kemono Carapace, 100 Gold
  • Uwagi– x3 Curstaceous Moss, x5 Ancient Lumber, x4 Coral Fragment, 100 Gold
  • Gloves -x3 Curstaceous Moss, x5 Ancient Lumber, x4 Coral Fragment, 100 Gold
  • Sune-ate – x3 Curstaceous Moss, x5 Ancient Lumber, x4 Coral Fragment, 100 Gold

2. The Great Juniper Armor Set

The Great Juniper Armor set is essential to advance through the challenging portions of Wild Hearts. The armor offers incredible defense stats in all its pieces, with the body armor scoring a defense stat of 37. Moreover, the gear provides a 33% Tangle Recovery and a health boost.

Besides the cool ninja look the armor offers, the Great Juniper gear is perfect for taking down mighty Kemonos such as the Lavaback. You can also choose the Human or Kemono path to amp up your fighting style.

Materials:

  • Headgear – x3 Sharp Jungtusk Ivory, x2 Kingtusk Bristle, x3 Sakura Stone, 750 Gold
  • Body Armor – x2 Kingtusk Bristle, x2 Sharp Kingtusk Horn, x2 Long Kingtusk Tail, x1 Kingtusk Hoof
  • Field Hakama – x3 Kingtusk Horn, x3 Sharp Kingtusk Horn, x5 supple Lumber, x3 Sakura Stone, 750 Gold
  • Sune-ate – x2 Thick Kingtusk Thorn, x2 Long Kingtusk Tail, x2 Large Scale, x3 Sakura Stone, 750 Gold

1. Basara Armor Set

Best Armor in Wild Hearts

The Basara Aror is an invincible set that takes work to come by. You'll need to fight Kingtsuk to unlock the armor. This is a great risk that delivers a great reward since the suit's elemental defenses are exceptional. For starters, if you reach the Pure Human Affinity level, the armor's distinct skills let you recover your health stats while using Healing Water. Also, using the Hunter's Arm grants you a healing ability against a colossal Kemono's vulnerability.

The armor is indispensable when taking down poisonous Kemonos. While other gear displays impressive defensive stats, the Basara armor makes up for it with its healing properties. Moreover, the armor lets you branch out along the two paths; the Human and the Kemono. You're better off choosing the Human-path since it delivers more power and is more effective against Kemonos than the Kemono-path.

Materials:

(Base)

  • Helm – x1 Kingtusk Ivory, x4 Ancient Lumber, x2 Small Crystal Ore, 100 Gold
  • Body Armor – x1 Kingtusk Bristle, x1 Kingtusk Tail, x4 Ancient Lumber, 100 Gold
  • Gauntlets – x1 Kingtusk Ivory, x1 Kingtusk Horn, 100 Gold
