Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date

Infinity Ward and Activision have officially announced the release date of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The two firms working on the game revealed the news on the official Call of Duty Twitter account. Activision Blizzard's announcement did not reveal much details about the game or the gameplay. However, a video that accompanied the announcement provides a brief description of the game.

“Task Force 141 makes its massive return with a global squad of iconic veterans,” it says. “These Operators include Captain John Price, Simon ‘Ghost' Riley, John ‘Soap' MacTavish, Kyle ‘Gaz' Garrick and introducing Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas.”

The video features a large boat bearing a Modern Warfare 2 banner on top, driving beneath a bridge, and docks, aligning with other banners on the ground. The banners align to form a complete image revealing the return of Ghost. Consequently, this cover art is the first official artwork of the upcoming sequel. Fans can also expect more details in a full trailer that the developers will release in June.

Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to the Modern Warfare remake, released in 2019. The two games are remakes of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games from the 2000s. Activision Blizzard officially announced Modern Warfare 2 earlier this year and revealed the logo in April. Infinity Ward will develop the game, which is part of the annual franchise.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date

After Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard for $69b in January, the series could no longer be a yearly franchise, making this year's Call of Duty the series' final annual installment. According to reports, 2023's Call of Duty game will launch in 2024.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will launch on 28th October. Although, the developers have not yet released the specifics of the platforms.
