Updated on

2020 promises great adventures for table RPG fans. With the arrival of highly anticipated games and also with the launch of new systems and campaigns, it is even difficult to follow everything and choose the scenario for your next session. With the boom that RPG games have been experiencing in recent years, it is not easy to keep an eye on everything that is new – and with the often limited budget, you need to choose your new acquisitions well. For this reason, we have listed here 5 table RPGs that deserve your attention in 2020. The list is quite varied and includes new titles and supplements that will enrich your group's campaign in your favorite table RPG.

One of the greatest classics of science fiction, Duna, will be introduced to many new fans in 2020, with the arrival of Denis Villeneuve's film adaptation. As part of the film, Modiphius (Vampire 5E, Fallout 2D20) will publish a desktop RPG, entitled Dune The Official RPG.

The license has gone from publisher to publisher in recent years, but it seems that now it goes. For now, there are no further details, but the game is expected to address both Frank Hebbert's six classic novels and the more recent books written by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson, which expand the universe of the original work.

D&D: Curse of Strahd

Of all the releases planned by Galápagos for the Dungeons & Dragons line in 2020, the Curse of Strahd adventure module is undoubtedly the coolest. Rereading the classic adventure that presented Ravenloft castle and its owner, Count Strahd Von Zarovich, to D&D players in the 1980s, this is the most awarded D & D5 adventure.

Players will explore the kingdom of Barovia and the fearsome Ravenloft castle, facing not only the powerful vampire Strahd, but several other dangers and challenges. In addition to the Curse of Strahd module, you will need the Player's Handbook to play.

Forbidden Lands

Forbidden Lands brings a different approach to classic medieval fantasy adventures. The players' characters are not heroes on epic missions, but thieves and assassins trying to survive in a cursed world, where they explore tombs and fight monsters to establish their own territory.

The box includes two books with rules for character creation, exploration, building bases and a colorful map of the Forbidden Lands. The game uses the award-winning Mutant Year: Zero and Tales from the Loop rules system.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker 10th Anniversary

One of Pathfinder's best official campaigns, Kingmaker will win a new edition in 2020, bringing all modules of the original Adventure Path together in one hardcover book and luxurious finish. The campaign will be reviewed and updated for the Pathfinder 2E rules. The book will have more than 600 pages and will include an unprecedented prologue to the adventure and an updated bestiary with new creatures to surprise even veteran players.

Kingmaker was originally launched in 2010, and marked the epoch with its “sandbox” adventure system and management systems. Players will explore and conquer the Stolen Lands and establish themselves as local rulers – and you know how it is, with great powers, comes great responsibilities.

If medieval fantasy is not your thing, take a look at The Expanse. In The Expanse, humanity colonized the solar system and ended up divided into three distinct species: Earth humans, Martians and Belters (born in the asteroid belt). These groups struggle with each other for political power and resources, but an alien threat will bring about unimaginable changes in the system.
