5 Strong Video Game Mothers We Would Like In Our Lives

Motherhood is an accomplishment that hardly gets explored in video games. The role of a strong mother can be protective, generous, and loving. Those who are not biological mothers can still be visibly responsible, bonding with a child, but if you are a female mother figure that is younger than the so-called child, love is what counts. Mother figures play a significant part in society and in video games, they give us a heartwarming experience. Here is a list of 5 strong mothers in video games that we would like in our lives.

5. Grandma (The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker):

Although this is not Link’s immediate mother, being a grandma is still motherly. Grandma in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, hands over Hero’s clothes at the beginning of Link’s adventure. She delivers elixir soup, which helps to heal Link. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, developed and published by Nintendo, is available on GameCube.

4. Ana (Overwatch):

Ana Amari is an elite soldier on active duty and still has to raise a child, Fareeha (also known as Pharah). Fareeha’s admiration worries Ana, because if her daughter follows in her footsteps, who knows what can happen?

3. Sims Moms: (The Sims):

You knew The Sims had to be on the list. Be as generous as as you decide, like giving your baby a party. What would make the Sims series slightly more relatable, is if the the child grows up, sees or hears their parent cheating, then the child can decide to tell their other parent. Would not it be more realistic to include an option where the child can be down-to-earth, emotionally discuss family related issues to their friends, then the cheater gets gawked at?

2. Sonya A. Blade (Mortal Kombat):

Sonya Blade, from Austin, Texas, is a beautiful, tough-as-nails General  with the Earthrealm’s Special Forces unit, known as the Outer World Investigation Agency. Inspired by martial artist, Cynthia Rothrock, Sonya is the main female character in the original Mortal Kombat and we all knew the day would come when Johnny Cage would get more involved in her life.

In Mortal Kombat X, Sonya and Johnny Cage had a baby together. That baby grew up to be Cassie Cage and in Mortal Kombat 11, Sonya sacrifices herself to save Cassie. Who would want a mother like Sindel (watching over Kitana), when you can have Sonya, saving her daughter’s life?

1. Samantha (Street Fighter):

Blanka’s ending to Street Fighter 2 is a relief. Samantha, his long-lost mother returned back into his life. The story goes that when Blanka was a little boy named Jimmy, Samantha lost track of him after an airplane crash in Brazil.

Because of the horrific crash caused by Shadaloo, the mutating the feral man, Blanka, experienced the life-altering effects of green skin and the ability to generate electricity. Blanka was raised by wild animals and the anklet that Blanka wears, is what Samantha gave him for his birthday.
