Each new month brings with it a new batch of game releases. If you're gaming on a console, whether it be PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, you'll want to know which games currently are in the spotlight. That way you can hop on the train early and be one of the first to step foot in a new game. June is no exception as it's coming with a range of new and exciting games to test. That's why we've compiled a list of the top five PS5 and Xbox Series X/S games you should play this June.

There is plenty of diversity for June, with a game for everyone on our list. Whether you are looking for horror and thriller titles or a new marksmen FPS, we got you covered. If those aren't down your alley don't sweat it because there's also some great new MMO action coming and even an old rebooted classic. Regardless of your preference, all of these titles are shaping up to be the highlights of June and will certainly provide a good time. So let's step right into the five PS5 and Xbox Series X/S games you should play this June.

5. Silt

Silt - Official Gameplay Trailer | Summer of Gaming 2021

Release date: June 1st, 2022

What better way to start the list than with a game coming out right on June 1st. That game is Silt, which is a surreal underwater puzzle-adventure Indie horror game with an amazing concept and art style. If you're a fan of games like Limbo, Inside, or the Little Nightmares series, then Silt will be right down your alley. The game is presented in black and white to suit the horror atmosphere, with a very neat art style that looks similar to sketching and shading.

That's most likely because the 2D game is entirely hand-drawn by an artist named Mr. Mead. This makes exploring the deep underwater depths an intriguing and surreal experience since you never know what mystery or treasure you'll find. You won't be entirely alone since you have the ability to possess sea creatures to help you along your journey. Remember, fish are friends, not food. If you're looking for an indie horror with a unique approach, Silt is one that gamers have had their eye on for a long time, and it's definitely one of the games you should play this June.

4. Sniper Elite 5

Sniper Elite 5 - Official Gameplay Features Trailer

Release date: May 26, 2022

Will slow-mo action shot's of a perfectly placed bullet crashing through someone's head ever get old? Not for Sniper Elite 5 it won't, since the series just dropped their fifth title late on May 26, 2022. The game appears to be the best addition to the series yet, and surely will see a lot of hours put in by gamers this June. However, you can join right in on the game right now as an Xbox game pass day-one exclusive game. Sadly for PS members, the game is not available as part of the subscription, however, Sniper Elite 4 is playable if you want to get a feel before making the purchase.

This time around, Sniper Elite 5 comes back with its iconic marksman shooter, Karl Fairburne. Set in 1944 France, you are tasked with uncovering the secrets of Project Kraken, a deadly and unknown experiment. Only with your trusty sniper, a Karabiner 98, and the weight of the world on your shoulders, citizens are relying on you to save the day.

3. The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle Expansion

The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle - Paradise and Purgatory

Release date: June 21, 2022

If you've been on the fence about The Elder Scrolls Online, right now is the perfect time to step into the game. Come June 21st, the game is getting its biggest DLC addition this year, the High Isle expansion. The expansion is looking to continue the ongoing Legacy of the Bretons DLC storyline, with a brand new adventure across the homes of the noble chivalric society. Which will be surrounded by breathtaking white cliffs, towering castles, and hazardous jungles.

With 30 hours of story content, there will be tons of unearthing to do as you explore the MMORPG's new High Isle and Emenos cities. They are also said to hold the threats of a dangerous god-like enemy. Even if you're not one for MMOs, the High Isle expansion is rich with story and is looking to emphasize RPG with its newest DLC.

2. The Quarry

The Quarry | Official Announce Trailer | 2K

Release date: June 10, 2022

Another horror title to transition to on June 10 is The Quarry. The highly anticipated title is looking to send chills down the spine of players brave enough to dare its storyline. You take control of nine camp counselors and in stereotypical fashion, their plans get spoiled by a night of horror. This is where you come into play, as you control the fate of the nine counselors, through in-game decisions that will determine how your story unfolds.

The game appears to play like a movie, complete with superb graphics cutscenes, and realistic facial animation. The Quarry's movie-like style is what has gamers most excited for the game, which will most likely be a very atmospheric and immersive horror story. Just make sure you don't have any camping excursions planned after playing this one since you'll probably have second thoughts about joyful campfire tunes and marshmallow toasting by the time you're done.

1. Sonic Origins

Sonic Origins - Official Trailer

Release date: June 23, 2022

If you're looking for a nostalgic gaming experience, Sonic Origins will most definitely deliver that. Coming out on June 23rd, the game includes four remastered classic titles. That is Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Coming with animated shorts and remastered versions of the songs, there's a lot to love about Sonic Origins. Especially the classic old-timey feeling that just isn't captured by new-age titles anymore.

Sonic Origins is coming in just as it should, in its classic side-scrolling 8-bit form. It is refreshing to see the game re-delivery as its original experience and not something absurdly new. In this case, it's fair to say that sometimes old-fashion never goes out of style. If you're ready to roll into the games you should play this June, Sonic and his team of hedgehogs are ready to join you. You can re-live their classic story once again, however, not on a Sega Genesis, and rather on a big screen.
