Switch Exclusives Coming Out

Whether you usually play at home or on the go, the Nintendo Switch has been making huge waves with the extensive high-end exclusive games designed for the sole purpose of banishing boredom. I mean, it’s just difficult not to want to get your hands on one of these baddies for the mere delight of accessing franchises like The Legend of Zelda, Mario Kart, and many more. This year has specially had an impressive lineup of games, with much more to come later in the year. But, if you're anything like me, you're probably already kicking balls about what switch exclusives are coming out in 2023.

A quick tip? More to-die-for exclusives are coming your way in 2023. Since some long-awaited exclusives like Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 have been pushed to next year, and others whose release dates have always been one step ahead of us, we're preparing you as early as now for some diehard exclusives you'll want to get your hands on as soon as they arrive. So, whenever you're ready, here are the five most anticipated Switch exclusives coming out in 2023 that you'll want to get your hands on, come what may.

5. Blanc

Blanc - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

One game piqued the interest of many attendees at the June 2022 Partner Showcase: Blanc. And no, not because of its impressive mechanics or high-definition graphics, but simply because of how adorable the trailer was. Sure, not all of us will immediately go for adorable games, but picture this. In a snowy wilderness, a wolf cub and a fawn roam. They're not the most obvious of animal companions, but these two might just become the best of friends.

With their different abilities – the fawn jumping higher and the wolf cub squeezing into smaller facets – the two must work together to find safe haven. To top it all off, a black and white color palette is used to depict the open world, much like a napkin doodle that brings out the most emotional escapade we can't wait to play.

For the time being, we only have the trailer to tug at our heartstrings, so we only hope the actual game will aim even higher, with a teardrop or two sneaking out of our way. Can’t wait to play Blanc? Me too!

Release Date: February 2023

4. Metal Slug Tactics

Metal Slug Tactics - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

If there's one thing we're waiting to see in Metal Slug Tactics, it's how the newly tactical RPG format plays out. Metal Slug previously had the run-and-gun design. It’s not that the format wasn't effective. I mean, Metal Slug remains one of the best action franchises to play on the Nintendo Switch. But we welcome the developers' willingness to experiment. Change is a good thing. Plus, it seems like people are already raving about Metal Slug Tactics pending release.

You can expect to see some of the series' Marco, Fio, and Eri powerhouses, as well as a similar pixel art format, with the exception of a refined tactical and roguelike system that already appears to be explosive fun to play. We're just crossing our fingers that the game's delay to 2023 will be the final one because we can't wait any longer.

Release Date: TBD

3. Moving Out 2

Moving Out 2 - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Almost everyone would like to “move out” at some point, but no one enjoys the actual process of “moving out.” It's a frantic day of packing, labeling boxes, making sure nothing breaks on the way to your new home – basically all the “moving out” rogueries. The only exception is Moving Out, the game, which, despite its silliness, is far simpler and pretty enjoyable to play.

Now that the sequel is coming out in 2023, we can't wait to get all hysterical again, frantically packing up boxes and coordinating moving couches with one another. With still an undefined date, get ready for some hilarious bickering, a few shoves here and there, and, of course, massive, massive fun. Moving Out 2 will also feature cross-platform online multiplayer, so there will be no more excuses to skip out.

Release Date: 2023

2. Marvel's Midnight Suns

Marvel's Midnight Suns - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned “save the world from doom” mission? Once again, the team behind XCOM is bringing some superhero fun into the strategy game. Marvel's Midnight Suns will feature 12 of your favorite superheroes, with gamers taking on the role of the new hero, The Hunter, customized to your liking.

If you’ve played XCOM, you’ll have an easier time transitioning to the combat system, which uses similar turn-based tactics with a few distinctions setting it apart. So get ready to take down the Mother of Demons on the big screen or on the go. With Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, and more by your side, you’ll be in for yet another Marvel treat.

Release Date: TBD

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel

Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - E3 2021 Teaser - Nintendo Direct

The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild doesn’t have an official name yet, but it’s real and will be coming soon. Yes, yes, we know. It’s been a long time coming. From the high hopes of getting our hands on it in 2021, to the E3 2021 trailer pointing to a 2022 release window, to the now, all-too-common, ‘Hold on, maybe we’ll give it another year,” all the way to Spring 2023. At this point, we've stopped counting the months until the sequel's release date and will simply wait patiently for it.

Of course, all of this waiting isn't just for show. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a boundary-breaking, genre-defining masterpiece that paved the way for later masterpieces like Elden Ring and Genshin Impact. I mean, how exceptional will the sequel to a genre-defining masterpiece be? We can already see some impressive changes in the trailer, which are simply breathtaking and make it all the more difficult to wait. But we'll do what we must, like the dedicated fans we are, and, well, sit still and patiently wait.

Release Date: Spring 2023
