PlayStation 5 Games

As the pandemic slowly fades and businesses return to normal, we're sure it's becoming quite overwhelming that the hundreds of games that were previously delayed are now falling from the sky like it's the Christmas season. Delays, rescheduling, and cancellations are common in this industry, so if you aren’t up to date on the most recent schedules, it can get quite messy. Of course, we're here to make things quick and easy for you by sifting through the noise and compiling only the games worth your time. So, whenever you're ready, here's a quick rundown of the five essential PlayStation 5 games coming out in September 2022.

5. Valkyrie Elysium

Valkyrie Elysium - Release Date Trailer | PS5 & PS4 Games

Starting off our list of PlayStation 5 games, we have Valkyrie Elysium. With yet another world to save and the pure excitement of finally getting a true sequel to the Valkyrie series (which was released more than 20 years ago), this tactical RPG is one we can't wait to get our hands on.

Valkyrie Elysium is based on Norse mythology and features the familiar traversal as well as fast, fluid, and flashy combat styles. There's a lot of jumping and grappling in a beautifully designed environment that just makes you want to dive right in.

As in previous installments, players will take on the role of Valkyrie, searching for and purifying lost souls. They will have access to more than just the sword shown in the trailer, along with magic spells, all included in the combat package. In fact, almost half of the trailer is dedicated to the gameplay, which is undeniably superior to previous entries.

For those of us who thought Valkyrie was long forgotten, we couldn't be any more pleased that Square Enix is giving Valkyrie another go. Certainly, Valkyrie Elysium will gain new fans, giving newcomers modern-day access to the long-dormant series infused with a fresh look and feel of the game's deep lore and rich story.

Release Date: 29 September 2022

4. NBA 2K23

NBA 2K23 - M.J. Edition Trailer | PS5 & PS4 Games

NBA 2K23 didn’t come to play with the 5v5 player format everyone is raving about. Leave aside the struggles we've seen in the past to simulate real-life NBA moments. NBA 2K23 gives it all and leaves nothing to chance. From seamless AI players to new tiered badges, advanced controls. There's a lot to like in NBA 2K23. There's a better replication of Jordan's NBA 2K11 jump shots, dribble moves, and sleek dunks.

Gamers will relive 15 iconic Jordan moments. It sounds like fun, doesn't it? While there were subtle flaws like slow shots in previous entries, the new installment promises smoother, more realistic gameplay, which is why we like sports sims in the first place.

From every angle, NBA 2K23 is an improvement, with one word defining the overall experience: ‘authenticity.’ Plus, you get to hang out by the rim after that sleek dunk for that cool NBA swag, though don't stay there too long, or you'll be called out for a technical foul. Psyched to get your hands dirty? Let that countdown begin.

Release Date: 9 September 2022

3. Metal: Hellsinger

Metal Hellsinger - Public Demo & Release Date Trailer | PS5 Games

Games with horrifying visuals can easily fall short if they go too far. It has to be so well executed that you don't feel the strain of playing for hours on end – an aspect that Metal: Hellsinger does beautifully well.

This is perhaps the most unique game we’re looking forward to, precisely because of its name, “Hellsinger,” which references shooting your way through eight Hells guided by the beat of heavy rhythmic metal music, or “rhythm FPS” for short. Sounds cool, right? So, ideally, you can play it like a traditional FPS game. But, it’s just much more fun and rewarding when you’re shooting in time with the music.

A quick piece of advice, Metal: Hellsinger may seem like a steep learning curve, but with practice and the charm of its demonic enemies, powerful weapons, and cool design, you'll be able to find your way out in no time.

Release Date: 15 September 2022

2. FIFA 23

FIFA 23 Reveal Trailer | The World’s Game

After nearly three decades of annual FIFA game releases, FIFA 23 will be the final installment in the EA Sports and FIFA partnership. Not to worry, though, as EA Sports is only taking a break to do a revamp and a name change to EA Sports FC.

However, to commemorate the end of an iconic football series, we expect EA Sports to give it their all in creating the most memorable FIFA game yet. Ideally, FIFA 23 will create an even more surreal experience of the real-life football experience we've come to love.

A quick sneak peek at the trailer shows that, while the game doesn’t introduce groundbreaking features, it includes some tweaks that will undoubtedly make the FIFA 23 gaming experience look, feel, and sound the best. From power shots to hyper motion, we're on the edge of our seats, wondering when FIFA 23 will finally grace us with its presence.

Release Date: 27 September 2022

1. The Last of Us Part 1 Remake

The Last of Us Part I - Announce Trailer | PS5 Games

The Last of Us had a massive impact on the gaming industry, taking it to the moon and back. It's a well-known game that is regarded as one of the best story-driven games of the decade. So the fact that Naughty Dog wants to remake it from the ground up for the PS5 is not something we take lightly.

Everything from improved game controls, visuals, animations, and combat to more than 60 accessibility options and more is at your disposal. This will reenact the first time we met Ellie and Joel, but without old technology.

What’s more, we'll be able to play it on powerful PS5 consoles, which, when combined with the DualSense controller, provide three-dimensional audio, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers. So, while the remake may have a similar look and feel to The Last of Us II, it may perform significantly better. Let’s wait and see.

Release Date: 2 September 2022
