Games Coming to Nintendo Switch (October 2022)

There’s no breather for Switch fans out there. With each new month, Switch brings onto your lap a slew of breathtaking titles ready for you to devour. And this upcoming month of October is no different, seeing as we’ve got some pretty interesting lineups you’ll want to get your hands on. As is tradition here, we’ve filtered out the clutter to find you only the top five essential games coming to Nintendo Switch (October 2022).

So, even if summer is coming to a close, we’ve got your autumn covered with these top Switch exclusives you'll want to be ticked off your wishlist come October.

5. Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal - Take Over Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Persona 5 has long since narrowly escaped the grasp of Switch owners. Not anymore, though, as the newly enhanced Persona 5 Royal version will roll out on Switch consoles next month. This one’s bigger and better, with all the extra niceties, including new content from the characters in the story, plus all of the previous content you might have missed out on, all nicely knit into one package.

Fortunately for this one, you’ve already got reliable reviews from PlayStation gamers who enjoy Persona 5’s fantastic music, engaging story arcs, and all-day, everyday combat. The only thing we’ll be looking out for is how the new Royal edition performs on Switch. Though, we have high solid votes on that end. So, are you ready to jump into the world of the JRPG Persona 5’s phantom thieves? Get your special edition DLC on Switch in just a few weeks.

Release Date: 21st October 2022

4. No Man's Sky

No Man’s Sky - Pre-Order Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Something so cool about Switch is the variety you can play on there. If space-themed games particularly make your heart pound faster, then you may want to get yourself the No Man's Sky edition on Switch. Lucky for you, No Man's Sky has had its fair share of purposeful patches here and there (20 free updates, to be precise) since its initial release in 2016. So, you’re especially in for a smoother, much more fun space exploration journey.

The content here is intense. We may have 8 planets (is Pluto a planet?), but No Man's Sky gives you a whopping 18 quintillion planets to do as you please. Crafting and scavenging for resources are paramount. You’ll definitely face a host of unfriendly creatures. Oh, and you do have companions accompanying you on your adventures. Even if you feel the experience is underwhelming for you, which you likely won’t, but just in case you do, HelloGames has a good track record of proving they’re unafraid of turning things around to bring you the absolute best.

Release Date: 7th October 2022

3. Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 - Gameplay Trailer - Nintendo Switch

It's been a long time coming, but we’re finally getting our hands on the Overwatch sequel, and soon. This team-based, multiplayer FPS game stole our hearts in every aspect. From the uniqueness of its Pixar film style to the brightness and quirkiness of the wide variety of modes and characters in i., The first game was so good that there had to be a sequel. And since Overwatch 2 will be a complete rework, one that you can crossover your progress, this one is a particular title we can’t wait to play.

Switching gears to the trailer, we’ve got two words that can sum it up: faster and funner. Overwatch looks and feels great, but Overwatch 2 looks and feels even greater, if that seems possible. The world is more dynamic, the battles grander, the graphics sleeker and with better lighting. Plus, there are extra in-game story arcs, and the gameplay looks faster-paced, perhaps slightly aggressive. We’re here for all of it. So, as the floodgates open to Switch fans previously left out of all the fun, we can’t wait to hear what your experience is like in just a few days.

Release Date: 4th October 2022

2. Nier: Automata The End of Yorha Edition

NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition - 2B Character Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Our favorite androids, 2B, 9S, and A2, are back and, once again, fighting to free Earth from the grasp of machines from another world. As fans of Nier: Automata may already know, there aren’t enough words to describe the experience of playing this action RPG masterpiece. It’s insanely original, compellingly beautiful and features complex, captivating stories in layers and enticing ideas.

Finally, having a Switch exclusive, as announced during June’s Partner Showcase, feels like an early Christmas present, one we can’t wait to unwrap. In case you haven’t played it yet, Nier: Automata will release a Switch version called The End of Yorha Edition, which will import all of the previously released DLC content, plus bonus costumes exclusive to Switch.

Release Date: 6th October 2022

1. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope - Gameplay Presentation - Nintendo Switch

There’s never a time to skip embarking on a Mario adventure. With the crossover between Nintendo's Mario and Ubisoft's Rabbids franchises, it got a ton better playing the first Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Now, while we’re still catching our breath, a sequel is on its way, featuring some new faces you haven’t seen yet.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope takes things a notch higher by merging Mario’s Mushroom Kingdom and the Rabbids’ Rayman universe into one large universe free to explore. Our old-time heroes will also be embarking on a new mission – to face a new villain, Cursa. And some new combat tactics will come into play. Overall, there are familiar notions for that soft landing as well as some new variations that are sure to pique your interest and give you more room to maneuver around.

If the success of the first crossover is anything to go by, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is a definite sequel most people can’t wait to play, and it's among the top five essential games coming to the Nintendo Switch (October 2022).

Release Date: 20th October 2022
