By enhancing its gameplay and creating immersive experiences, players’ jumped on the Arceus train head-first with no hopes of a quick return. So to hear there is an upcoming installment to the franchise has players crossing fingers that the new installment takes Arceus to a whole new level.

The reveal trailer showed great promise. With sunny skies and vast open areas to roam about freely, there’s much for old and new players to look forward to. We anticipate an open-world adventure of towns blending in with the wilderness and freely roaming critters out in the wild. At the start, players will have three Gen 9 characters with unique characteristics and customization options. You’ll be free to pick the character you like the most. So if you’re a fan of Pokemon or simply want to see what all the fuss is about, feel free to grab this Switch exclusive RPG later in the year.

It’s definitely a plus for the game to already have critical acclaim pending its release, with classification ratings of mature content and fantasy themes and violence. So if you’re looking to try out an upcoming Switch exclusive JRPG, this game is for you.

3. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Release date: 24 June 2022

At the top of the list is an upcoming gem for Fire Emblem fans and newcomers alike.

It’s a spin-off game for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, so you can expect cross-over similarities between the two. For one, Three Hopes will adopt characters from Three Houses, as well as similar settings. However, the spin-off shifts from a top-down strategy and turn-based combat to a hack-and-slash system. It’s also focused on action-packed content, taking on thousands of enemies and monsters and players taking advantage of each character’s unique skills.

So if you’re looking to switch gears from tactical combat to a hack-and-slash system in a war-torn setting similar to Three Houses, this game is for you.

2. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel

Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - E3 2021 Teaser - Nintendo Direct

Release date: 2023

It’s quite a while before the sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild comes out, but we just couldn’t avoid giving it a notable mention. The sequel doesn’t have a name yet, though it is in development and is set to release in 2023.  The Legend of Zelda series has come a long way, with more than two decades' worth of content. Consequently, fans have high expectations for future releases to constantly advance gameplay.

From what we know so far, the sequel to the renowned Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild title will further extend its already massive open-world map. But instead of extending the map horizontally, players will have the chance to freely roam high up above the skies.  It’s certainly a lot to look forward to, and though there’s still much we don’t know yet, there’s but one thing we’re sure of, and it’s the fact that we absolutely can’t wait to try out the new sequel.

1. Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy – Official 4K Reveal Trailer

Release date: Late 2022

We get it. The long wait for Hogwarts Legacy is excruciatingly painful. But hey, we’re closer than ever to getting our hands on Hogwart's newly immersive, open-world RPG.  It’s no secret that Hogwarts holds a special place in our hearts. For decades now, we’ve indulged ourselves in the wizardry world of the Harry Potter books, films, and series of games. Now, Hogwarts Legacy is soon coming to our gaming consoles, and we can’t sit still.

While the actual release date remains unknown, we're sure of quite a few significant things. Firstly, all the Hogwarts charms will be there. So you can expect magical monsters, creepy dungeons, and spellcasting like in previous Harry Potter games. However, the story takes place in 1890, so Harry and his friends are not yet born, and Dumbledore is the only character we know who’s alive at the time. It’s interesting because he’d also be a kid, so who knows; perhaps he’s a student, and players will create student characters to play as. Overall, there are character customization options and more than enough magic to scratch the itch for the popular wizardy franchise.

And that’s it for now, the top five Upcoming RPGs on Switch. Are there games you can’t wait to play? Do let us know in the comments below or head over to our socials here.
