5 Best Minecraft Builds of 2022 (So Far)

Updated on

No one could have predicted the heights to which Minecraft has ascended since its initial release back in 2011. Even to the present day, 12 years after its release, the game still sees over two-million concurrent players every day. The international success and stature of Minecraft is one that has been achieved by very few titles. The limitless amount of creative possibilities for builds in Minecraft are only furthering the open-world sandbox's reputation. It is, in fact, a huge reason the game is continuously propelling its notoriety year after year.

That's why every year Minecraft extraordinaire's set out to break the limits and push the boundaries for what can be accomplished in the game. This aspect of the game has snowballed till now, where there are established companies with full-time jobs to be Minecraft builders. Even though we are only a few months into 2022, the Minecraft community has already produced some incredible builds. From full-scale models of fantasy worlds, giant kingdoms, and real-world places, here are our top five Minecraft builds of 2022, so far.

5. Palace of Westminster

One of the joys of Minecraft is its limitless possibilities, but that doesn't sway anyone from re-creating their favorite places in the real world. Even when I was a young kid I attempted to re-create my childhood home over and over again until it was perfect. I know I'm not the only exception as there is something oddly comforting about re-creating your home out of blocks. I guess it reinforces the old adage that there's no place quite like home. Well for this builder that home is in the United Kingdom, standing in front of the Palace of Westminster.

Aguero pays tribute to one of the United Kingdom's most acclaimed structures with his full-scale replica. Consisting of over 1,000 rooms, 100 staircases, and endless corridors there is no shortage of detail to this build. What's even crazier is the creation is completely furnished all the way through. That is an amount of detail that I can't begin to comprehend but one I can appreciate with the fifth spot on this list.

4. Ziwei Palace, Luoyang

Nothing is more awe-inspiring than Chinese architecture. The monuments that stand in the country are built with a certain level of fluidity and complexity that has been unmatched by the rest of the world. For centuries people have pondered at how the country has managed to engineer such facets of these buildings. One of the best examples of this astounding architecture is the Forbidden City in Beijing. Not only is it home to the world-famous Ziwei Palace, but all the other monstrous buildings that surround it.

It is a spectacle that VotMaf, a grandmaster Minecraft architect has sought out to replicate for over a year. After seeing it slowly come together, building by building, the master-builder has finally unveiled his completed project, in full, on a 2:1 scale. The replica consists not just of the palace, but all the other amazing structures that make up the Forbidden City. It is a magnificent and jaw-dropping creation that captures the complexity of these buildings within the realm of Minecraft.

 3. The Modern City

Remember I told you there are entire companies dedicated to Minecraft builders; I wasn't kidding. Senior Team is one of the most established Minecraft build teams to date. It seems like almost every other day they're pumping out builds that exceed their previous ones. The sky really is the limit for these guys with their creations, and it shows with their map The Modern City. The immense skill of these builders is on full display with this build.

Senior Team is really taking the concept of building with simplicity to an entirely new and original level. The build is a take on what a utopic cutting-edge city might look like, and it is simply gorgeous. Every building presents a unique design, style, and mix of colors that complement each other. Day in and day out this team is pushing the boundaries of what can be accomplished by a team of builders in Minecraft. I might even have to ask them to design my next house, that is if I can ever muster up the coin for it.

2. Genshin Impact Map

Why not kick off the new year with a bang? Well, SkyblockSquad did just that with its 1:1 scale replica of the City of Mondstadt from Genshin Impact. To my surprise, this build only took five months to complete which is insane when you look at the sheer accuracy of it. It really makes you feel like you are stepping into Teyvet, just this time as a 3D pixelated Minecraft avatar.

The great news is the team is planning on releasing more replicas of places from Genshin Impact in the future. So keep an eye out, because once this team has a vision, they plan and execute to the highest standard of quality.

 1. China Town, 2080

Ever wonder what a city or town would look like in a world encompassed by water? So did Azrealon with his creation of China Town, 2080. After a year of anticipation, we are finally getting a glimpse of this breathtaking creation that is straight-up eye candy. It is a visual display that is exploding with color and asking to be seen in every viable shader there is to offer.

Made entirely on top of the water, the town takes a wonderful futuristic vision and put's it to fruition. You can find sky lanterns floating in the air, next to fireworks, and even a holographic whale diving over the town. This build really is a piece of art and deserves the top finish on this list. If the world resembles anything close to this in 2080, then put me in a cryo chamber and wake me up in 60 years.

So what are your thoughts? Is there a build we missed or one you want to share? Feel free to do so over on our socials here.
