Fortnite Week 12 Quest Guide

Games as a Service, or Live Service Gaming, has given developers time to build on what they've created as time passes. With the ability to update and add content to games post-launch through patches and expansions to existing titles. With advances in technology, developers are now able to create games with greater scope and scale due to this live-service business model. As expansions are released the game worlds in which these expansions exist grow astronomically. Below are the 5 Best live-service Games in 2022

5. Warframe

Warframe is a third-person shooter that was released in 2013 with cooperative missions and raids. This title casts the player as a Tenno.  You play as one of the last of their kind, seeking to reunite the various colonies throughout the game. With a lot of the title's late game content being centered around the gathering of different “Frames” for combat or aesthetic purposes. The “Frames” in the game as they are called are different suits and armaments made for the Tenno to use.

With every new update patch and event the scope of the game's world as well as the character armors available increases. This live-service model ensures that players, regardless of when they joined the game's community, will always have content to return to. With a service model that allows for Warframe's longevity to be increased and the barrier to entry being low due to the game being free. It is for this reason, as well as many others that we consider Warframe one of the best live-service games in 2022.

4. Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is a marvel of a game. Developed by Bungie the developers of the Halo franchise, Destiny 2 widens the scope and longevity of what a First Person Shooter can be. Tasking the players as essentially saviors of the universe following the events of Destiny, Destiny 2 seeks to surpass its predecessor. Accomplishing this in various ways. Such as gameplay improvements to missions and raids as well as the streamlining of cooperative play with others.

The scale and scope of Destiny 2's raids are significantly improved from the first game in the series. The addition of various puzzle elements and certain incentives around events Destiny 2 has in some ways perfected the live-service model. With players all seeking out the highest level content to get access to the game's higher-tier guns and armor Destiny 2 ensures its lifespan will only continue in the coming years. With the success of the latest expansion titled The Witch Queen, Destiny 2 only continues to cement its legacy as one of the best live-service games.

Fortnite at this point is a cultural staple. The free-to-play FPS launched with humble beginnings and many comparisons to PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds.
