Gotham Knights - Epic Games Store

For the last two decades, Steam has dominated the PC digital gaming store scene, with the Epic Games Store arguably being their closest competitor. However, that depends on what you consider close because, through a bigger scope, Steam is far ahead of its competitors. But that's because it's hard to overthrow the king when they've held the throne for a two-decade-long reign. Regardless, this is not to say that the Epic Games Store is lacking in content; quite the contrary.

Since the launch of the Epic Games Store in 2018, there has been some tension between the two storefronts regarding exclusive rights. That is, Epic Games has taken some widely available titles, bought their rights, and made them exclusive to their store. As a result, the Epic Games Store has emerged as a significant rival to Steam in the gaming market. That's why, if you've been debating whether or not to download the platform, the best games on the Epic Games Store might just be enough to convince you.

5. PC Building Simulator 2

PC Building Simulator 2 Trailer | Out Now

Speaking of the topic, why not start this list with the newest Epic Games Store Exclusive, PC Building Simulator 2. The first game in the series was a smash hit, because who could have guessed – PC gamers love building PCs. And having the complete financial freedom to build your ideal setup is what most gamers fantasize about at night. That's why Epic Games Store knew exactly what they were doing when they secured the rights to the second title. Removing it from other stores and reserving it exclusively for their own.

These are the kinds of moves that keep Epic Games Store in contention. However, PC Building Simulator 2 is much more than just customizing your own desktop. This time around, you can step into Career Mode, and run your own PC business. Yet still, the Free Build Mode remains the breadwinner of this game. This allows you to conceptualize your own setup with over 1200+ components. You can even go as far as customizing your battle station's floors, walls, posters, and furniture.

4. Slime Rancher 2

Slime Rancher 2 Early Access Launch Trailer

Slime Rancher 2 made headlines when it first launched just under a month ago. That's because the game sold more than 300k copies in the first few days after its release, and still has yet to conjure a bad review. For both of those reasons, it's climbed and remained at the top of both Steam and the Epic Games Store. That's why you shouldn't pass judgment too quickly on this game if you're put off by its childish and lighthearted demeanor. And its sales and reviews are clear evidence of that.

Slime Rancher 2 improved on its predecessor in almost every way. There are numerous new slime creatures, resources, equipment, and ways to personalize your ranch. Which course is your homestead in the game, and what are you working so hard to construct day and night. Overall, the new amount of content added to the game can be a little overwhelming. But, it makes for a pretty hard title to put down title once you're in motion.

3. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed - 3 Minutes of Gameplay | gamescom 2022

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is due to release on October 18. And although we're still a couple of days away, the game is ranking as one of the best-selling on the Epic Games Store just on pre-sales alone. So, when it sees a full launch, it will undoubtedly take the top spot. Which is easy to suspect considering how many of us wanted to be real Ghostbusters when we were kids. And Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, is finally giving us the chance to live that reality.

However, that's only the case for Epic Games Store, since this is exclusive to its storefront. If there's any game on this list to push you to download the Epic Games Store, this game should do the trick. You control four Ghostbusters equipped with proton packs as they try to capture ghosts both online and off. Or you can reverse roles, and hunt down our heroic Ghostbusters as the ghosts. In either case, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is one of the year's most eagerly awaited releases and is certain to provide some entertaining and thrilling gameplay.

2. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered | PC Launch Trailer

One game that took over the summer for PC gamers was Spider-Man Remastered. Solely because PC gamers had to hunker down for four years to experience New Yorks's concrete Jungle as the masked “vigilante” on our rigs. Meaning it was a console exclusive until it finally come to PC this summer, on August 12, 2022. Since then, it has maintained its position as one of the best games available on the Epic Games Store. And the reasoning is pretty self-explanatory.

That being, the majority of us would jump at the chance to play the adored superhero. However, playing him on a PC with full ray-tracing support is our second-best choice. Which, is about as close to the real thing as we can get and we'll gladly accept it. But Spider-Man Remastered is coming with a lot more than just its original offering in 2018. The City That Never Sleeps DLC and an additional six to eight hours of story content is included in this PC Remastered version. In other words, if you're looking for action, adventure, and a hero's journey, you can't go wrong with this title.

1. Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights - Official Gameplay Launch Trailer

Right now we're sitting in the calm before the storm that is Gotham Knights. The open-world RPG from WB Games Montreal, which will feature a number of DC's most beloved superheroes battling crime in Gotham City, is unquestionably one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. As with Spider-Man Remastered, players are eager to fight crime on their own while playing as Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, or Red Hood. Or as a mix of them in a co-op team, a feature the developers have been stressing.

However, the game did recently suffer a setback by dropping the bomb that, among other things, it is capped at 30 FPS. More information on that debacle can be found here. But nevertheless, Gotham Knights will be one to remember. Similar to Ghostbuster: Spirits Unleashed, it is currently among the best-selling games on the Epic Games Store based solely on pre-sales. And when it launches on October 21, we have no doubt it will take the number one spot in the store and hold that position in the months to follow.
