5 best games like v rising

V Rising exceeded one million downloads in just a week! At the time of writing, this vampire survival game is ranked seventh on Steam, with over 150,000 players! But what's so appealing about this new survival game by Stunlock Studios? Well, for starters, V Rising has an intriguing twist on the vampire genre. It has a sort of Dracula, darker tone where players are constantly challenged in a gothic open world.

Players awaken after decades of sleep with an insatiable hunger and a strong desire to feed. Your sole means of survival is to hunt for blood from the world of the living.  Some folks are terrified of you so they've used garlic on their farmlands to protect themselves from you. Not to mention the scorching sun – a few moments in the sunlight and you're toast.

You may be wondering which games are similar masterpieces to help fill your spare time. They’ve got to have a similar range of gameplay components like open-world, multiplayer, building and crafting, PvE, PvP, and top-down viewpoint. With these in mind, here are the five best games like V Rising that are sure to fulfill your desire for more survival, and vampiric gaming. Read on.

5. Don’t Starve

Ready to switch things up? Why not check out Don't Starve, an oddly satisfying survival game that throws you into the sea without ever holding your hand. In this game, it's entirely up to you how you want to explore this harsh wilderness filled with surprises, strange creatures, and magic!

To survive, you'll need to gather and craft resources to help you traverse the complex and unforgiving world. Minecraft lovers may have an easier time crafting resources. But make no mistake: brushing up against death is inevitable. You'll be kept on your toes at all times, continuously challenged to keep vigilant lest you find yourself running low on supplies or a shadow beast invasion wipes away your newly crafted safehouse.

The game's visuals are lovely paper cutouts with a whimsical feel. It offers a straightforward game mode where all you have to do is craft, build, survive the night, and, of course, eat! If you prefer roguelike games where dying means the game is over, Don't Starve is a terrific way to genuinely learn how to survive on your own.

4. Tribes of Midgard

Games Like V Rising

Another game like V Rising is Tribes of Midgard. This action RPG title is a fast-paced, colorful co-op game of players defending the World Tree from hordes of gigantic monsters and deadly spirits. It uniquely blends in survival strategies, with rogue-lite elements to give you an exhilarating race against time.

While the game presents a visually appealing, colorful look, it’s quick to put you into intense, fast-paced action that comes with the time crunch. The gameplay isn’t overly complicated, but there’s a pretty cool touch in keeping the tower defense gameplay simple. Every day is an open field crafting day to gather resources and build up your defenses. And by nightfall, you’d have to withstand enemies, bandit camps, and constant battling of monsters to survive.

3. Fractured Veil

Games Like V Rising

Craving something fresh? Fractured Veil‘s tropical 100-year-future Maui may be precisely what the doctor ordered. The game is a multiplayer survival game with a single fundamental goal: to keep an aloha state of mind amidst the chaos and unnatural creatures that roam therein.

This Hawaiian survival game features beautiful, lush environments with skyscrapers, trees, and trace signs of humanity. It has challenging gameplay where you’ll face off against horrifying mutants, each with their unique set of skills. Also, crafting and building are key to surviving the mutant species and the more unfriendly survivors. Meanwhile, you may foster a community and scour the sun and sand environs solo or as a team, traveling further inland to cover more ground.

Overall, the game offers an exciting blend of survival games, MMOs, and RPGs that adds a fresh twist to living out the apocalypse in paradise and struggling to keep sane through the carnage.

2. Elden Ring

Our list of games like V Rising can't be complete without mentioning the popular Elden Ring. Elden Ring is another alternative if you're looking to explore a more intense PvE experience. The game is a classic of an action RPG genre from FromSoftware. One of the game's most appealing features is the meticulously crafted open-world landscape. Every aspect is fantastical, unique, and simply wanting to be explored, from castles to towns to ancient ruins to the surrounding sky, sun, and water.

Furthermore, Elden Ring includes fluid customizable combat concepts from prior legendary works like Dark Souls and Sekiro. It's hard to lose interest in the game because the diversity of weaponry, action, and boss fights keeps you going back for more. And while newcomers may have a slower start, the tough, breathtaking maneuvers from the boss fights and overall gameplay offer a tense and exciting experience throughout the game. As a plus, Elden Ring features a great soundtrack that culminates the entire experience into worthwhile hours of gaming.

1. Valheim

On top of our list of games like V Rising is Valheim.

Many folks compare V Rising to Valheim and for good cause. They are both survival games with distinct thematic differences. While V Rising is a game about vampire survival, its open-world – gothic and mysterious – Valheim, instead, offers a survival game with a Viking flavor.

In just a few weeks, Valheim had millions of players with many enjoying playing as powerful monsters wreaking havoc on the world. Unlike V Rising, however, Valheim provides a peaceful experience right before unleashing chaos. It has a beautiful open-world landscape with rolling meadows and calm woodlands. You'll have to make do with a wooden cabin with construction tools instead of a gothic castle. And of course, you won't have to feed on people.

Combat is rather intense, with a subtle Diablo vibe. Away from the chaos and constant battle with the world around you, there is a chance for a better life of sorts. So if you’re looking for a survival game that paces itself, and isn’t always fighting you back, Valheim could be a good place to start.
