5 Best Games Like Lightyear Frontier

Lightyear Frontier is an upcoming farm simulator game we've all been waiting for since its announcement. It does not have a definite release date yet; but all we know is that it will be dropping in 2023. Here, players do all their farming and crafting in a suit; it's much like No Man's Sky, where players roam around in an Exo mechanical suit. You could even say Lightyear Frontier is a blend between No Man's Sky and Stardew Valley, a combo we cannot wait to see. Besides, the game also portrays the same colorful, relaxing feel as Stardew Valley. Which is the whole point of playing a simulator game; to relax and watch as your virtual world thrives.

The game takes place on an alien planet where you build a farmstead, plant and tend various crops like wheat and corn. The special suit helps you with some farm duties by streamlining various farming processes like seeding, planting and more. The best part is that you can upgrade and modify your suit at certain points in the game. From the looks of it, there's a lot more to look forward to in its release. Meanwhile, here are some similar games like Lightyear Frontier you can play as you wait for its release.

5. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley - Gameplay Trailer | PS4

If you're a simulator fan, you've probably heard of Stardew Valley already. This is one of the biggest games available today. Like Lightyear Frontier, the game requires you to take care of a farmstead. You first begin by customizing your character, who is the beneficiary of a plot of land in Pelican Town. There are variant farms you can choose from, each with its own style, benefits and drawbacks. Before you can build or plant anything, you have to clear the land of stumps, weeds and boulders; after which you can plant crops and tend to the farm animals.

You can interact with the NPCs populating Pelican Town and go as far as establishing relationships that may result in marriage. Stardew Valley contains a wide range of activities players can participate in, including questing and mining. As you progress through the game mechanics, you can gain access to new locations and quests. Have fun building and expanding your farmstead in this exciting game, and don't forget to observe your character's health through all these experiences.

4. My Time at Portia

My Time At Portia - Launch Trailer | PS4

Much like Stardew Valley, My Time at Portia features a delightful mood-enhancing world. The game may be hard to get into at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will appreciate the rewarding gameplay. My Time at Portia is set in a post-apocalyptic world trying to rebuild itself from the ruins. You take the role of a famous builder's child, who inherits a workshop from their father, who has left town. You aim to become the biggest builder in Portia and eventually expand the city. To do this, you must collect resources you can combine to create useful items. Aside from building, you can also explore dungeons and fight enemies.

The gameplay is diverse, and you can engage in various activities such as crafting and trading. The graphics on My Time at Portia are also impressive, to say the least. You can also become a part of the Portia community by engaging with the locals and making friends. Most of the NPCs you meet are friendly and welcoming; all you have to do is invite them. This is not only one of the best games like Lightyear Frontier but also the most engaging. It is sure to keep you buried in your monitor for hours.

3. Junkyard Simulator

Junkyard Simulator - EA Launch Trailer (AVAILABLE NOW!)

Junkyard Simulator is an easy-access simulator game that lets you crush cars, renovate a junkyard, trade and scavenge for usable items. All these activities will help you expand your junkyard into the biggest one in the region. This will not be a one-day job, however, since you only begin with a few pieces of equipment. Use these to earn money you can invest to gain even more; another way to earn is by collecting and selling scrap.

The game has an open world where you can explore and complete quests. As you progress through the game, you will be able to acquire more items such as loaders, cranes, choppers, crushers and electromagnets; these will ensure your work gets easier and your earnings grow bigger. At first sight, the game may not seem that much engaging; however, this is quite the contrary. According to the developer, there are more features to come even though Junkyard Simulator is broad and interesting enough already.

2. Among Trees

Among Trees Launch Trailer

Among Trees places you in the middle of a profound forest in a tiny wooden cabin surrounded by nature. It's basically living the one dream almost all of us have of staying in a quiet wild site away from the city. Only in this game you are required to survive the tough conditions of fending for yourself and relying on nature for sustenance. While you can expand the cabin by building additional rooms, your survival depends on the skills you unlock; such as farming, cooking and crafting.

The best part of the game is exploring; the forest is filled with wondrous features and interesting caves. Similarly, you can engage in several outdoor activities such as scavenging, chopping wood and fishing. All this while avoiding wild beasts that may be lurking in the bushes, as well as other dangerous conditions like cold blizzards. There are a lot of exciting things to do in the wild, and Among Trees lets you virtually take part in all of that.

1. Rise of Industry

Rise of Industry | Release Trailer

Rise of Industry is all about building and expanding an industrial organization that exists in the 20th century. As an industrialist, your goal is to expand your business by engaging in various practices that will see your empire evolve into a massive enterprise. You begin with a map locating where you can build and a small amount of cash. This region is shared with other AI villages and towns with whom you can trade by supplying them with the goods they require; this is how you grow your industrial empire.

The game features two main modes, namely Sandbox and Career. Whereby in Sandbox, you are allowed to play freely without financial limitations as all unlocks are already accessible. Whereas in Career mode, you have to progress through the game as you gradually unlock more features along the way.
