5 Best Action PC Games of 2021

The year is nearly over, and with it, it’s time to comprise our lists of top titles that made it memorable. Today, we will focus on the ones that made our heart pump and challenged us to give our best. Without further ado, here are some of the best action PC games of 2021.

Halo Infinite

To start, we have a new installment to the cult Halo series which marks 2 decades from our introduction to Master Chief. It also comes with a free-to-play multiplayer mode that is very smooth and engaging. Interestingly, the campaign is set in an open world, so you can explore Zeta-Halo in whichever way you like. All in all, Infinite is a significant improvement over Guardians and serves as a strong return to the game’s former glory.

Master Chief is back, baby! Steam

The creators of Dishonored gave us one of the best action PC games of 2021 with Deathloop – an immersive shooter that expertly executes the concept of Groundhog Day. The game follows 2 enemy assassins that are trapped in a never-ending time loop on a Blackreef island. Your only hope is to kill all 8 targets before the day is over. To do this, you will have to constantly adapt, gather information, and acquire new deadly abilities. Deathloop allows you to use various playstyles, so you can go all out like Rambo or take a more sneaky approach. But, the real fun starts in co-op, as the other assassin can be controlled by a player as well.

Nioh 2

Nioh 2 took everything that made original great and ramped it up on a whole other level. Now we have even more ridiculous bosses, and Yokai abilities, as well as a more fluid and nuanced combat system. The sequel also offers more opportunities to experiment with your build through hundreds of items and deep skill trees. While as challenging as you would expect from a souls-like, Nioh 2 is much more than another bland copy. Thanks to a ton of content and engaging co-op, you can easily lose yourself in this masterpiece for months.

Immediately, Ghostrunner shoves us into a hectic and violent cyberpunk universe. The world as we know it is gone, and everyone is left to fend for themselves. Luckily, you are the greatest blade fighter that ever existed, and your parkour skills are insane.  Your goal is to ascend the Dharma Tower and eliminate the Keymaster who rules tyrannically over humanity’s leftovers. Ghostrunner’s combat is complex, challenging, and very rewarding once you master the enemy’s timing and patterns. The game also has a great atmosphere, which is established by a badass soundtrack and strong visual identity. In short, this is what you’d get if you mixed Mirrors Edge with Cyberpunk 2077 and left out the bad parts.

Hitman 3

Agent 47 is back once again in an explosive ending to a strong trilogy. Hitman 3 took us all around the globe, from English manors to the top of Dubai’s biggest skyscraper. Every level is expertly designed and gives you a lot of freedom to decide which way you want to proceed, while the AI adapts to your every move. If there are stealth games that can match Hitman’s replayability and enjoyment, I still haven’t found them.
