There are clever video game quotes that stood the test of time while others barely stood. While it would be interesting to put each quote in chronological order and rank them, that could cause an everlasting gamer debate.

I am certain the gaming culture would be stoked for the best quotes in video games. We are going to cover 10 quotes that are noteworthy to gaming culture, but if you feel differently, express your feelings on Twitter.

Some quotes a part of gaming culture you may have long forgotten while others, you may never get tired of hearing. Here we go. Here is the list of quotes.

10. Mortal Kombat—Scorpion:

You knew this quote was coming. It is the infamous quote by the versatile ninja, Scorpion, “Get over here” he says.

Scorpion has a kunai attached to a chain (or in some games, a rope). In the movie version, a reptile comes directly out of Scorpion’s hand and that is exactly what most of us remember assisting the villainous Scorpion in deadly fights.

It was back in 1992 when Scorpian debuted in Mortal Kombat (played by actor Daniel Pesina). The developers at Midway were forced to create three identical ninja characters.

Yes. They had limited resources at the time and created three identical ninjas, except for their color palette: Reptile (green), Sub-Zero (blue), and Scorpion (yellow).

This task could have been seen as a lazy idea, but it was nothing short of brilliant, resulting in the most popular characters in the franchise.

9. The Banner Saga 2–Bak:

Bak said, “A wife can make you twice the man you were on your own.”

This quote has a lot of truth to it. Not just any wife can make you twice the man you were, but a good wife. Well, adding the word “good” may ruin the wordplay for wives fond of feeling like what Harley Quinn is to the Joker.

8. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess—Hero’s Shade:

In “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” for the “Wii” and GameCube, Hero’s Shade, says the following quote, “A sword wields no strength unless the hand that holds it has courage.”

7. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood—Clay Kaczmarek:

Here is a beautifully done quote by Clay in “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, “What is a man but the sum of his memories? We are the stories we live! The tales we tell ourselves!”

6. Resident Evil—Barry Burton:

In Resident Evil, Barry said, “That was too close…You were almost a Jill Sandwich.” Barry is a S.T.A.R.S. member saying this quote after Jill Valentine (his former partner) escaped being crushed in a descending ceiling trap inside the Spenser Mansion.

References to this quote in other video games include “Dead Rising,” where there is a restaurant named “Jill’s Sandwiches,” “The Mercenaries Reunion,” where Barry has a melee attack called the ‘Barry Sandwich,” and in “Resident Evil: Revelations 2.”

In “Resident Evil: Revelations 2,” Claire Redfield jokes, “I was almost a Claire Sandwich.”

4. Half-Life 2–G-Man

In the first-person shooter game, “Half-Life 2,” the mysterious G-Man says, “The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.”

3. Tomb Raider (2013)—Lara Croft:

1. Mortal Kombat—Announcer:

“Mortal Kombat is twice on the list. Yes! “Finish him!” It is the announcer’s voice that is somewhat like the Michael Buffer of video games. After the announcer yells, “Finish him,” you can perform gruesome fatalities or in some cases befriend the opponent.
